His comments indicated frustration about a very, very poorly officiated game. He never said--or even implied--that the game was purposely called that way so we would lose. Unless I'm missing something (let me know if I am), this conspiracy theory is being championed by some random fans and Mr. Lootz himself, not GM.

The Blob, Lutz, has been spewing that garbage for years about Wichita State, well before Gregg Marshall arrived. No wonder Marshall told him to %#! off years ago.. he saw the blob for what he is right away.

Lutz loves controversy. He just put a few words in coaches mouth. Lutz should be happy he didn't have to watch his alma mater play basketball today.

      • I was at the game so everything up close and personal. There was one ref in particular that was awful toward Wsu. He did not make a single call wsu's way. There is no way an official could be that bad unless it was intentional. Marshall and him had conversations in the first 10 minutes but the ref wouldn't come close to Marshall the rest of the game. Higgins was the only one talking to Marshall.

Having said that...it was the worst officiated game I have ever seen.

Somehow we always get jobbed in stl. Makes me want to save my $ and watch us get screwed from my couch instead of in person.

        • How many fouls called on WSU were legitametly wrong? IMO, There was in each half -everything else looked legit. The charge on Ragland was wrong and I thought Hall got robbed when he was called on and one.

Obviously, the out of bounds call was terrible. I will give Higgins the benefit of the doubt.

WSU failed to drive JC multiple times when he had 4 fouls. There was one possession when Ragland, Williams, and TM could have drawn the fifth foul. That was the required game changer that never happened.

The fans and coaches need to move on. They are going to have bad games here and there and sometimes you get beat.

For all their "I couldn't care less" attitudes about us, they seem to have some very strong opinions about HCGM.

I'm going with insecurity, for my expert personality profile.

Higgins deserves no benefit of any doubt, the guy has a mass history of bad calls against us! That one call was right in front of his face and he stood over there and gave repeated shrugged shoulder gestures to the Shocker bench. That totally obvious turnover would have given us the ball back with the lead with less than 45 seconds to go.

It does sure seem like he makes some strange calls when he refs our games.

                  • I don't think I'll be able to watch the whole game, but after just a little bit of some things I was curious about, I saw Wilkins knee Garrett to the scrotum with no foul (or retaliation from Garrett I might add), Garrett get a foul called for falling to the ground (both players holding each other and could have been a foul on Garrett) and then takes 2 shots to the head, 1 possibly accidental, the other without question intentional. Then Garrett push Wilkins (and rightfully called for a foul) and then get T'd up for responding "hey" when Wilkins obviously said something to him. I have no idea if Wilkins was told to goad Garrett, maybe yes, I suspect no, but he did his job well, I hope he blows out his knee sometime soon.

Garrett is so not dirty and frankly not the toughest guy around and he deserved none of what Wilkins was dishing out. I love Redbird fans, and I like their team and wish they would have won today but Wilkins is going to have to do a lot to get any respect from this WSU fan (not that anyone cares mind you).

The knee to the balls really pisses me off. Cheap shot punk.

                    • The play that bothered me maybe more than any other was the lack of a 10 second call in the 2nd half against ISU that clearly took between 11 and 12 seconds to get the ball past halfcourt. The shot clock was at 24 b4 they crossed midcourt and then they proceeded to hit a 3 on that possesion. To me that was one of the worst calls of the game, am I the only one that saw it? Well, our whole section of fans at the game saw it but havent heard it mentioned. Totally unexcusable IMO when you have a giant shot clock that does the counting for you.

I'm proud of our coach and players....wouldnt trade them for anyone

I love that Garrett got assertive with the "hey" even if it caused a technical. His confidence has peaked at the right time and he's not backing off from a less-skilled-make-it-up-by-cheating doosh. If this is the busted nose moment he got in the NIT last year, then freaking awesome. And if coach has another pity-party Knute Rockne speech left in him, look out!

And we rewound the knee to the asstikosher/berries over and over during the game yesterday screaming our heads off.

I saw that too when I was watching the live action! I wondered if anyone else did. I knew Wilkins was trying to dirty up the game but that play showed his true intent. Wasn't about playing ball it was about trying to pick a fight and take Garret out of the game.

I hate losing and feel for the guys but feel hopeful IS will be sitting until next year. Forgive and forget...it's not my nature. Our young men showed more class on court with their losing effort than IS did in their win. I've already sent my e-mail to AD Sexton expressing my outrage. I recommend others do so as well.
When your not practicing, someone somewhere is and when you meet him...he'll beat you.

                            • I remember the 10 second call, and I don't think they missed it. I'll have to check the replay but I think the call (or no call in this case) was correct.

                              • Remember the shot clock may be rolling before the ball is in the on court player's hands. I'm pretty sure the 10 second count doesn't start until he receives the inbounds pass, and a few seconds could already be gone on the shot clock.
