Just take a gander at the unusually close games and the home losses by good teams. That puts some perspective on how first games work out. It's not unusual for first games to be a mess. If they're going to be messy, chances are good that the same mistakes from previous years will be repeated because that's the pattern for the player. There will be "learning opportunities" when reviewing film.

Houston had to go to overtime to beat Hofstra. Does that mean Houston is looking a losing season straight in the face? I doubt it.
Those are all very good points. I am high on the the team this year and think they have a ton of potential so I’m not trying saying they’re doomed or staring at a losing season. In fact, if all of the issues I mentioned are totally correctable.

I have no doubt the coaching staff sees the stuff I mentioned plus tons of other things that I wouldn’t even know to look for. The players are all smart and coachable as well. Plus we have the benefit of more tune up games this year whereas last year we were playing for our NCAA tourney lives every time we took the court. And besides like you and many others said, it’s just one game.

Bad shot? It was a f****** Great Shot. Our university got the win and lots of free press because an outstanding human being and player took a shot he knew he could make. Thank you Tyson

It's always a great shot. He can hit 40% of those from there.

It wasn't a bad shot because it went in. It was a bad shot today at the end of the first half. It will likely be a bad shot more times than not (less than 30%) going forward.

This early in the season, including one where he was not 100% health-wise, and he is not looking like an NBA lock after this season. An future NBA guy should be able to rack up huge numbers against inferior competition, even if he's doubled.

It's only two games, but I don't believe Baker or VanVleet would have had games like Etienne has had in their 3rd year. I'm also not buying that he came back to avenge the loss against Drake. I think he came back because he wasn't going to get picked up by an NBA team.

If Etienne is using this season as his NBA tryout, he's likely to end up in Euro ball. If he's willing to play some team ball, the NBA is more likely. FVV didn't have eye-popping stats as a Sr.

FVV made everybody else on the court better. Etienne is not doing that.

It does seem like he's forcing a lot of bad shots so far this year.

Checked Fred's stats from his senior year. 12.5 points, 5.5 assists, 3.2 rebounds, 1.8 steals. Tyson is scoring more than Fred, but that's about it.

"because it went in" - based on that logic 74.1 % of his three pointers so far this season have been
bad shots. In the long run bad shots will catch up with you. I still maintain it was a bad shot but
sometimes bad shots go in. As a team we need to limit bad shots all game long AND when playing
for the last one. Need to do that tonight and every game for success. Surely, TE will bounce back
tonight. The entire team needs to move the ball, see the court and make good passes for good
shots. That is the recipe for quality assists and good outcomes. Will be watching our assist
numbers tonight. Our chances of winning are MUCH better if assists are north of 15 and north of
                our turnovers.

If we would just make the simple pass it would help things tremendously. And when I say simple pass I mean if a guy is open, pass him the ball! Don’t wait until his defender catches up or he gets out of position to do anything threatening to the defense!

Just a regular old crisp two handed chest pass will do. It doesn’t need to be one handed, behind the back, length of the court bounce pass or any other fancy thing.

If a guy is coming around a screen pass it to him when he’s open! That’s one of the most frustrating things to watch about this team. If you get it to your teammate on time when he’s coming around a screen on the move and expecting a pass it makes it so much simpler for him to put pressure on the defense by attacking off the dribble, shooting, passing, etc.

Too often we just stare at him or are too busy trying to set the world record for most dribbles that go nowhere and by the time the pass gets to him his man is caught back up and we lost the advantage.
