No, so the great man could take over for the feckless amateur.

BeltTight can handle taking orders from alphas. That's his ceiling.

The WSU fan base inlcudes a good portion of senior citizens who are probably a bit more hesitant to be in a large crowd, especially in an indoor setting where transmission of Covid is at its highest. The mask policy itself conveys a sense of well being.

Also many fans have gotten out of the routine of attending games in person and no doubt some have concluded that watching a game from the comfort of their own home, with their favorite food, snack or beverage at a fraction of concession stand prices and without waiing in line, and thereby bypassing having to deal with the weather, parking and traffic hassles is a perfectly acceptable alternative.

The mask policy will probably has some impact on those of us who find it uncortable to wear masks for more than about 30 minutes and who don't particular like the idea of recycling our lung waste any more than we have to. Maybe the mask policy will be the a step too far for some but in many cases, perhaps most, it just another reason to add to the list of reasons why some fans have already decided to follow the teams from afar.

I bought volleyball season tickets this year just to support the team. But I haven't and won't attend a match in person and the mask mandate has not been in place until today. Not for sure how the attendance at volleyball matches has been so far this year as WSU does't provided real attendance numbers but from what little I can see on the ESPN+ video streams it looks like actual attendance probably has been down.

That said I hope the Shocks at least draw decent crowds for their games. It will be interesting to see if the mask wearing has any significant impact on the noise level in the arena.
I hope we have a great turnout for the games. Most of our guys have never experienced a packed Roundhouse. Probably one of the factors in their decision to come here. Do I think the masks are nothing more than the politically correct thing to do? Yes. Will the policy keep me from being there? Hell no.

      Go Shocks!

I don’t expect much more that 8k attendance save for a few big games.

I think that would be quite good under the circumstances.

Is anyone honestly expecting Boatright to just come right out and say "We're not happy in the American and we're making calls to the Big East"???? Really? C'mon man.

He doesn’t have to say we wanna be in the big east. But he doesn’t have to say we’re closing our ears and are closed to any possibility of anything exploratory in the future going forward.

He can’t even give out statements on his own. We only get info when he randomly gets asked to go on morning radio shows. What is his job exactly? To hide in the shadows?

I’ll have to admit, when I saw the title of this thread, I thought Boat interviewed for an AD job at another school.

My criticism of Boatright is his persistent attack on a once family oriented booster experience. They took away Century Club Parking and now they’ve stopped supporting the SASO room for Bold Gold and above.

i am not calling for his head but noting is an area that needs improvement in his
performance. I do miss Jim Schaus and his regular working of all donor levels.

You whore yourself out to the corporates at the expense of the dedicated 7-8k who built the fan base, you will eventually reap what you sow with decreased physical attendance and less interest in continuing year in and year out support from those who can’t claim support and attendance as a marketing expense.

You aren't totally wrong (though I'd say that Schaus wasn't exactly the posterchild for caring about the little donor)...but I offer this devil's advocate view.

I know parking space is an issue. A few years back, I had a car accident and accidentally left my BG parking placard in the wrecked car. I asked the SASO office if I could just get another one and was told that it really would be best if I could get parking placard back because they had limited space (and though I am sure they trusted me, it would be a bad precedent to have multiple BG passes floating around). Fortunately, I was able to find my parking placard from the wrecked car in the junkyard, so it was no big deal. Anyway, Shocker Hall absolutely needed to happen and has been a great thing for the University...but it removed A LOT of parking for basketball games. So...removing CC parking, while unfortunate, is kinda understandable.

As for the SASO hospitality area, I never actually used that much since it was just pop and popcorn...and it was always so busy at halftime. Again, I know space is an issue, and CKA has limited options for premium group opportunities, which would generate revenue (which, like it or not, is needed right now).

Again though, you aren't wrong on pissing off core fanbase. Anyone who knows me would agree that I am one of the last people who should be considering dropping season tickets, but the thought has started seeping in my mind. Whether I ever decide that enough is enough to where I pull the trigger remains to be seen, but the thought is there.

I have generally been pro-Boatright, I thought he deserved credit for the move to the AAC, and for retaining Marshall.

I think most of us here can see that both those positives... have dwindled. Other negatives that many constantly bring up are becoming more pronounced.

I don't really understand how he skipped the 3G assault saga without any dirt on him - why are there not questions being asked about that?

No more SASO room? Masks? Worse conference? Worse non-con? None of this is adding up to be positive to me. Consider me worried about the direction.

Well, I can’t help but wonder if a few people within WSU weren’t a little upset that we got stuck paying Marshall the remainder of his $3 million a per season contract. There could very well some “consultants” telling Boatright that it’s not in WSU’s best interest to pay any exit fees or look into football anything until we are done paying Marshall.

Any athletic director with any skill would have navigated a path for 3G to continue as the Coach.

Are you suggesting the Shockers could/should have taken a similar pathway as the Beakers did in making Self coach for life?

Due to administrative complicity WSU had no choice but to pay the ransom Marshall demanded.

I think Boatright should have handled it when it happened.
