I've got to imagine most of you all on here are good people. In other words, if you saw an old lady struggling with her bags and trying to open a door, you'd rush up to help her. I'm also going to imagine that most of you mocking and shaking your fists at mitigation efforts haven't personally experienced the trauma from this pandemic that millions of Americans currently struggle with. Some have lost dear friends, spouses, children, parents. Those that have died suffer no longer, but those that carry on are left with guilt, despair, anger, and chronic symptoms.
Is mandating vaccines and threatening firings going to far? I personally don't think so. But I'm often viewing things from 30,000 feet. I'm also aware that we've been practicing compulsory vaccinations in this country for over a century. I see people riding on bikes or in cars alone wearing masks. I know it's needless, but I'm not triggered by it. I recognize that everybody is unique, and some react to stress and uncertainty differently. But I also realize we are still losing over 1,500 hundred Americans daily from Covid, which is almost 4x higher than the worst of the worst flu seasons. We are clearly not finished with this as a country even though we all want to be. Is it too much to ask to carry on with the "theater" a little while longer? Perhaps do it for the sake of someone hurting you will never meet? Think of your cooperation as an act of generosity or kindness - like someone who asks you to walk a mile and you walk two. Our country is divided; I believe love and empathy is the way back.
