Spoke to COX CS this morning. You will need digital service to get 2022, but it's free. Should be active soon.

Can someone who doesn't use a box, but just plugs the coax into the tv, check channel 98 and see if it's broadcasting in HD?

The best game I ever saw on television was Michigan-WSU in the early 60's. It was in black and white. You guys need to quit f-ing whining.

Sometimes if you go hunting around in various setups on an HDTV, you can find those HD signals on strange channels even when just plugged in directly by coax. At least I was able to do that a few years ago when I got my first little 24 inch HDTV. I may have been on "Air" rather than "Cable" in order to do so, I don't remember for sure.

There are some channels that come in HD when just plugged in without the box. The TV in my bedroom gets some of the basic (CBS,NBC,ABC,FOX and a couple others) stations HD broadcast. I don't know the exact channels as I just channel up past 70 something and they show up. Don't know if that's something they'll do with 22 or not though. Maybe they should think about that. But they probably won't because they want everyone to buy the digital package so they can make more money.

98 is the hd equivalent of 22. The networks come in at like 114.1 and 115.1 etc. That was why I asked if 98 was coming in, in hd. I'll give 98 a try tonight to see if there really is an HD signal on that channel.

Hopefully even in SD on channel 22 it will look better. There is no reason why SD broadcasts have to look as bad as 22 has been looking. If they start with a good HD signal, that should improve the SD picture. You would hope that they can get close to what watching a game in SD ESPN or Fox Sports would look like then.

And those who dont have a box can get one today in a store, enjoy game, return it tomorrow and enjoy game for $12 or so. Or keep it to watch the run we are going to make the next month in HD. For a month it would cost like $30 or less. Then take it back.

Isn't it the digital version of 22? Later on today when it is active, I think there will be (3) locations for this broadcast, 22, 98, and 2022: analog, digital, and HD.
