  • I like that Davidson team. I like their style. Shox just take it to another level.. incredibly fast.. they make fast teams (Missouri State, UNLV etc) look slow.

Major "hats off" to Davidson for stuffing some crow down the Jayhawks throat.

    • When was the last time we had a point guard like Rags that can penetrate so often, so gracefully, and score so many easy lay-ups? Then he steps back and drains a few 3's, just for the exclaimation point? He also makes most of his throws!! WOW!!!!!!!
Shocker basketball will forever be my favorite team in all of sports.

Perhaps, but beating ranked teams on consecutive Saturdays would have been noticed. It's over now and it was a nice game vs. a good opponent.

The Shockers appear to be continuing to improve. They're taking care of the ball better, shooting lights out, and the offense (mostly) never goes on long droughts. The seniors are playing with purpose, for sure.

Maybe. We'll find out tonight. I think we would beat either of them, but will settle for just one of 'em.

ESPN is all over the Murray St game. But if they lose today, they may be NIT bound even though they will still be ranked. The same thing happened to Air Force about 5 years ago.

And btw, great win today for our shocks! This team is alot better this season than I could have imagined.....

            • I think Joe Ragland is playing himself past Toure for 1st team MVC. (yes I know this wasn't a league game) While I really wanted #23 to be 1st team MVC this year, there is no arguing who is leading us down the stretch. I guess I should be hopeful they are brave enough to put two Shox on the 1st team!

So? If they give you layups, you take (& make) layups. If they try to prevent layups, this gives you more open shots from outside and I think open shots are easier to hit than closely guarded shots (and so your shooting percentage from outside goes up.) What is your point?

Don't worry too much about it. Just do all you can do and let the rough end drag.

                  1. It guarantees us a quality home and home without HCGM making a phone call.

                  2. It gives us a chance late in the year (this year) to play in a tough, unfamiliar place...just like we will have to do in the dance.

                  3. It gives us a chance to work on our seeding for the dance.

There is no down side to this...ever...and even if we would have lost...that's on us. It's all about taking advantage of opportunities.

I've believed all along that Bracket Busters was not the problem. It has been our performance in Bracket Buster games that has been the problem. This win today sure feels good and will certainly not hurt our NCAA resume at all.

Maybe will get Murray State in the Dance (if they make it).

                    • UNM is the heir apparent to "Flavor of the Month" should be stub our toe anytime soon.. They are a very good team and losing in the Pit is a lot like losing at CKA - not a "shocker"

And 3 balls go a clanking.

Oh well... And now we join Florida State/NC State, already in progress. Hope FSU is playing half as well as WSU today!
Before this game Davidson was very similar to the Shox in scoring the ball. Guess we play a little better D. The secound half was tremendous with the transition game just killing them. Nice win on national TV and should give some other teams a little pause as they continue their seasons.

I think they will surpass us if they win against UNLV. Beating two top 25 teams in a week will do that. NM is damn good and a team I wouldn't want to face in the NCAA's, kinda like us :)

                            • I'm glad we did exactly as we should have which is win.

Davidson looks like a whiter, smaller NIU. I would compare them to Friends University in regards to the "Eye Test". I think they are fibbing on their roster heights. One of their players (#20 I think) was actually looking at the ball as he dribbled down court. I saw another instance where I guard was jumping while he was dribbling kind of like your kid sister does when she is given a basketball to dribble for the first time.

Cohen would be a nice player for the Valley. He looks like the typical INSU/E-ville/NIU player that always manages to burn us; a guy overlooked by better schools because of his build/athleticism, but has a ton of skill. The Swede's dunk still has me scratching my head. Where the FK did that come from?

We may not get a lot of respect for this win, but Davidson is a scrappy team that plays VERY hard at home. Intense application of effort can bridge athleticism gaps. Speaking of athleticism gaps.. how the hell did this team beat KU? Were they 25 of 30 from three?

I hate these scrappy battles with teams that are playing in their Superbowl. Give me a lazy Providence or Texas Tech any day. This conference has never had an at-large berth in the history of their existence. Do you know how bad it would have looked had we lost? We're supposed to be a projected 4-5 seed. A loss today and we are an instant 7. Dump this #&@$ing tournament.

                              Hi.

Wow, what kind of response was that? My point was that if you play well, move the ball well, get easy shots, it's not hard to shoot high %'s for many games in a row. It's a sign of a good, experienced team. It was a compliment, not anything else.
