Dunno. I just read the NCAA Rule book.

Section 12. Ball in Back Court - Art. 1. A player shall not be the first to touch the ball in his or her back court
(with any part of his or her body, voluntarily or involuntarily) when the ball
came from the front court while the player’s team was in team control and
the player or a teammate caused the ball to go into the back court.

    • Listening to Gottlieb and Katz sniping at each other is entertaining. You can really hear the disdain in their voices. Cutting each other off. Contradicting. I know earlier this year Bilas and Katz had a little twitter war.

Bilas and Lunardi do not like each other either.

        • if the Beach does not get into the NCAA's, if they do not win their conference tourney, it will be an injustice and another prime example of BCS bias. @ Pitt, @ San Diego St., @ Louisville, @ Montana, @ Kansas, @ North Carolina, @ Creighton and a neutral game against K-State. They play these games at home, they win half.

Yea but that doesn't say what establishes team control in the front court.

I am no CU fan but I do have one question for you. How many years did Creighton get to the Dance and we had no post season at all? I think if you go back over the last 20 years, Creighton has had the most success of any other Valley team. We've been to the Dance how many times in that same era? I don't wonder why fans from other Valley teams "get pissed at WSU fans for feeling we're better than this league." I would get pissed too if the shoe were on the other foot. Until we've had the same measure of success that CU has had, I don't think we should be putting them (or any other Valley team) down. Do we have a legitimate reason to crow loudly for our success this year -- you bet we do and I will crow right along with you. But I'm not going to say we are too good to be in the Valley. You have to prove a statement like that before anyone is going to listen, and one year's success does not qualify. It's only a start, a beginning, albeit a VERY GOOD beginning.
Agree! I think Fever has been "schooled" by Cold. We got in the Dance in 2006 and some people thought we are too good for this conference. Only 6 years later we get in again and some people again claim that we carry the league.:shame:

Ah you and @RoyalShock: are right! I went back to Rule 4, Section 3:

                RULE 4 / DEFINITIONS

                Section 3. Back Court/Front Court

Art. 3. A live ball is in the front court or back court of the team in control
                as follows:
                a. A ball that is in contact with a player or with the playing court shall
be in the back court when either the ball or the player (either player
when the ball is touching more than one) is touching the back court.
It shall be in the front court when neither the ball nor the player is
                touching the back court.

                b. A ball that is not in contact with a player or the playing court retains
the same status as when it was last in contact with a player or the
                playing court.

                c. During a dribble from back court to front court, the ball shall be in
the front court when both feet of the dribbler and the ball touch the
playing court entirely in the front court.
                Edit: He got screwed!

yeah I would have to agree......there were some other teams that were pretty decent during that time as well. SIU and Mo St. And before CU's win tonight I thought we might be a one or 2 team league. Actually Linardi still has sCUm as a 6 seed as I just saw on CB tonight...

                      Quick question

What does our starting team look like next year?
1/16/2010 on the "Screw at the Q" HCGM... " Ive never seen a foul parade like that...If you would of let me know it was going to be a foul parade I would of brought a different team" .... "dont talk to me about fouls....Ive got to go back and look at some tape... I have some thoughts but I need to look at the tape and then I will have something very strong to say"

I'm not suggesting we carry this league consistently. You're right. This is just one year. I'm just tired of reading other fans from this conference saying it sucks, the conference is not pulling its weight, the Valley is overrated. Well, that's pretty much true, save for 1, maybe 2 teams.

This year we're the ones pulling the dead weight and excuse me for letting it be known.
                        Deuces Valley.
                        ... No really, deuces.

                            Different.

And there is NO WAY you can find 20 more deserving seeds than WSU. Not at this point. We are a 5 seed at worst right now.

                              Hahaha

I know the running joke around here is the whole "BJ" thing. Then I realized:

In the summer McDermott is the "head coach" at the BJ try-outs, has to assist in giving oral exams, and revels in bringing opponents to their knees begging for more.

                              Yeeesh.

So you're blaming Bracket Busters for the Valley's underperformance? Just win the damn games, and then let's see how it works out. It's the same complaint we've heard so many times about BB hasn't helped the Shockers. But it's mostly been the Shockers who haven't helped themselves, like last year when WSU could very well have traded tournaments with VCU by taking care of business against them in February. Not that I'm complaining about the NIT; it was a great ride -- but I'm betting that VCU isn't complaining about missing the NIT last year either, and BB no doubt had a lot to do with it.

This year was a refreshing change, and the Shocks' impressive performance at Davidson may very well have enhanced their seed for NCAA play (as well as giving them insurance against an unexpected stumble between now and Selection Sunday). So BB didn't hurt them. As for the rest of the Valley, any harm that this year's games did was their own fault, not ESPN or Doug Elgin's.
