As if tomorrow night's game wasn't already a trap game...
Three things in life are constant- death, taxes, and Creighton losing in the first weekend of the tournament.

    AAC or Bust!

It seemed like when I watched the CU-UNI game that CU didn't go to a zone until there was about 1 minute left in the game.

After Bradley came back from way behind to beat UNI once they went to a zone, you would think everyone would know to go to zone more often than normal when playing UNI.

      Big game tonight.

Wichita State 7-footer Stutz will test Northern Iowa

The bigger they are, the harder they have to work.

Wichita State center Garrett Stutz will command a lot of Northern Iowa’s attention when they meet at 7 p.m. Wednesday in the Shockers’ Koch Arena. But it hasn’t always been that way.

The only game in the world that is important at all is the one you are about to play. Nothing else matters. Focus.

The Eagle indicated that the starting lineup would be Stutz, Smith, Murry, Williams, and Ragland. Hope I'm wrong, but I just don't feel comfortable going that small without having to. I think we have the advantage with Stutz/Hall vs Tuttle/Koch on both ends of the floor. Not sure that will be true if we doen't play Stutz and Hall together more than we did against Ind St. I know it's just the starting lineup and could change immediately, but it's the same lineup that started against Ind St. Stutz/Hall saw very little time together.

Having Hall come off the bench has been a conscious decision by the staff. First, he told the coaching staff he is more comfortable, secondly Sullentrop wrote that having Smith instead of Hall gives Stutz more room which may be a part of his recent huge spurt.

Having Carl rotate in for Garrett not only gives Garrett more room but it gives Carl more room to operate also when he is in the game. May have had something to do with Carl's 13 in 15 game against Indiana State.

UNI likes to drive to the bucket and BS is probabley better at defending that also. The Beast will get his minutes.

I'm not implying that the coaching staff makes unconscious decisions. There will generally be pros and cons to most decisions. I also don't have that much of a problem with Hall coming off the bench. I missed Hall making that statement, if that's who you were referring to, and would find it odd that he'd be more comfortable given that he has probably started and been the "go to guy" most everywhere he's played in his life. I would not be surprised if he is totally agreeable to do what ever the coaches want of him.

As for Sully's comment, maybe so. Nevertheless, Stutz still goes to the outside, but we'll have little presence/threat inside when he does. I wonder how all the other teams with big centers and big PFs make room inside? Nothing says I'm right, just making observations. We'll see how Tuttle/Koch plays against that smaller lineup.

Koch will probably not be the one driving, but, more likely, the one shooting 3s over a much shorter defender and when not doing that, posting that shorter defender inside.

Having Carl rotate in for a hot Garrett also gives him a lot fewer minutes. I think Garrett and Carl being able to effectively score when the other is not in the lineup is great. I find it hard to believe, however, that they cannot also be very successful together. Seems like most successful teams want and are able to have a good center and a good power forward play at the same time.
