For reference, the average defensive rebound rate in the NBA is 73%. Average offensive rebound rate is 27%.
Last year 72% would’ve have been ranked 245th. 39% would have been good for second in the NCAA.
In 2020-2021 Jacksonville St grabbed 31% of available offensive rebounds, 39th best in the country. We held them below that number.
Obviously it’s just one game but early returns say that defensive rebounding has improved and offensive rebounding is elite.
Ideally we would have a defensive rebound rate between 75%-80% so while we took a step forward in the first game there is still plenty of room to improve. Obviously, JSU is a very good offensive rebounding team so it’s possible our overall number will improve as we play different teams.
