I refuse to go on a 9 page rant, so I will keep this brief.

This program has won with great rebounding and defense. Until we get back to that, we're going to suffer more games like last night.

Part of the reason is that it appears Coach has seriously shortened the bench, probably because he trusts his seniors. Well he can trust them on the offensive end for the most part, however on D we're lost our way.

What happened to the rebounding? Drake is one of the worst in the country, so is UNI. Both competed with WSU, which is inexcusable. Again, when we return to our roots....

If we try to outscore Creighton, this game will look like a 10star model.....116-84, at best.

Kelly Self, Terry Moore, David Stevens. You SOBs can lick the cheese off my scrotum. At least the mentally disabled are consistent. You call the touch loose ball against Toure (fouling him out) but you let Rice's charge go, Simon's walk go etc etc....the charge on Garrett's and 1 was beyond brutal. DWill getting fouled....loose balls calling tie ups. Miserable game. You 3 are so far over your heads it's not funny. You have no idea how to manage a game and not be influenced by 3000 bandwagon fans. Retire or go sack groceries. GFY.

I won't fault DWill for the missed FT. He's been solid all season.

Bottom line, play defense and win that game.

The expletives are going to fly, and they're going to fly early. I sit close enough to be heard, and heard I shall be, and frankly it will be so off the hook obscene I'll probably get tossed. So what...these SOBs that can't be fair just because Garrett is big, I'm fed up with. It's ridiculous. Please give me John Higgins and any 2 other guys. He knows what big time basketball is about and can manage an idiot if needed.

Dude, it was the Ben Smith free throw that he totally bricked off the front of the rim and Drake guard rebounded that set us back. At least D Will almost got his own missed shot rebound.. Ben just stood there when the ball bounced right back to him.

Yeah I do think it would have paid big dividends last night if players like Jake White and Cotton would have seen significant minutes during regulation. WSU looked very tired at the end of that game.

I agree that the seniors needed to be in the game at the end, but it would have been beneficial to them if they had been rested more earlier in the game.

Who knows maybe we make just one of those missed 3s and win the game.

Kelly Self is a good official. However, last night he who was paired with TM & DS who had poor games. When your partners are as inconsistent as they were, you are going to look bad too.


The no call on the Rice charge was bad, really bad.

Rice was out of control, led with his shoulder and knocked a defensive player over. I never openly yell about a call (or no call in this case) but I let loose on that one.

It was obviously a critical point in the game and that call HAS to be made. Not making it was inexcusable.

I"m still trying to understand how Stevens doesn't make the call. He either just froze and/or had a total brain fart.


John Higgins could make two HS JV officials look good. Pair him with Mike Stuart and Steve Olson and you have yourself one heckuva crew.

However, someone on SN would ***** and moan about a nothing call in a 30 point blow out. That's just the way it is.

Do you not remember Creighton circa 2003?

I feel like people are mucho oversensitive about this topic. Chanting "overrated" at the end of a big win is retarded because it belittles your team's win. Storming the court is essentially the opposite- it acknowledges that you just upset a squad who is normally a superior team. I get that you reserve that kind of celebration for truly huge wins, but I would rather err on that side than the one which makes the win seem completely insignificant.

I'm not an expert like many of you, just a first year season ticket holder who really enjoys this team and the games.
But, I do know this- any team can lose a game on any night and it is not one single play, factor, time, or decision that makes it occur - it is the collection of everything on that given night.
The real story is not about what happened last night, but what happens from today forward. This team stilll has a great opportunity to not only make it to, but have success in, the NCAA tourney. They will either move on and find it brings out the best in them as individuals and as a team, or doubt and mistrust will begin to creep in and become a cancer.
See me in March and I'll tell ya how it turned out. ( I think they will finish strong and the loss will make them better . . .).

Agreed. This really was one of the worst no-calls I have ever witnessed and it may very well have cost the Shocks he game although we don't know that for sure. As @SHOXMVC said, despite some questionable calls, we still had our chances and simply failed to capitalize on them. My hope is that this loss will be a catalyst to re-energize the Shocks for a strong stretch run.

I actually thought Garrett got away with about a half dozen fouls with the body down low (calls that have gone against him for about 90% of his career).

The Rice charge, however, was a blatant and inexcusable miss.

Toure is our best option, but our team still lacks that one player who is good to enough to break down someone one-on-one, drive to the hoop and get the bucket (with an and-1). Rayvonte did this to us all OT and pretty much won the game for them. When we needed someone like that, Toure tried and made some very hard baskets, but he is not consistent enough. Rayvonte knew he would get fouled or get easy baskets with our guys in foul trouble. It was disgusting to watch.

I don't give a damn about Drake and how well they played, we ARE the better team and took a big fat stinky dump once again. We SHOULD NOT lose to 9 loss teams period! This program is the king of taking one step forward and two steps back. Thank goodness MO State's C Patterson won't be available for our game with them at their place, or a two game losing streak would have been a real possibility.

Carl needs to start rebounding like he did early in the year and finish around the basket.
Joe needs to quit fouling. He can't have 3,4,5 fouls every game. He's spending too much time on the bench.
Yes, lengthen the bench back out. Particularly with the big men. There is no advantage to a size advantage when they're riding pine.
I don't like saying officials cost us games. Last night we had 55 minutes available to maket plays. However, it was a poorly officiated game with refs trying to make calls out of position. TM's 5th, bogus, GS 5th bogus, no charge bogus, and there were way too many others.

We're 18-4. Two loses to ranked (at the time) teams and two in overtime. Time to start another winning streak.
