Can noone else score at the end of a game when we need it other than Murry, and sometimes Ragland??? Before you become a basket maker, you have to be a decision maker! (and you can quote me on that).

Coach nearly always calls for Murry to go one-on-one in these end of game situations.

Shox turn the ball over a lot in these end of game situations. They turned the ball over three straight times with a two point lead in the first overtime.

What a heart-breaker. We were just one throw, one box-out, one loose ball, one field goal, one needed rebound away but could not seal the deal versus this young but talented Drake team. Yes, FSF had to ground myself from SN last night and chill out a bit. The ball seemed to bounce their way or they just got to the loose balls quicker during crucial times. It appeared our effort was there but too many times our execution was not to be found enough at decisive moments. Thus, as good as 17-19 was on our throws, they were rewarded with 24-36? WOW!!! Merry belated Christmas or did we really foul that much more than them? Dunno, because my rose colored glasses were dectecting optical illusions more than usual which can be expected on the cold and lonely road. No favors given and none expected. The Shocks win their fair share on the road but Drake is a very solid team in their yad. There will always be various obstacles to overcome and the best of the best will do just that, much more than not.

There is so little wiggle room we have for losing to make it to places we want to go. Thus, our beloved Shocks don't have time to be 'licking our wounds' but rather find a way to win as usual on our next road game. We should now have the 'eye of the tiger mentality' rather than the "woe is me syndrome." We have 5 experienced Seniors and 'now is the time for all dedicated Shocks to come to the aid of our beloved basketball team.' This one is over and now we need to get busy, go back to the drawing board, and win, win, win!!!!!!!

Well the bright side we have had 2 win streaks of 8 games this year so far. We go on another 8 game win streak and we will win out! LOL

Drake is pretty good, and will be even better next year.

We got their best shot and they played well.

Simons is goooood.

The refs sucked.

I felt pretty certain that DWill was not gonna make that shot.

Great effort on his part to get the rebound, though.

I think that most of the shots that DK took were good shots.

If I can chose Joe or TM to create a shot with time running out, I chose Joe. Every time.

What happened to Hall on the boards?

We should have pressed more. That is true most every game.

It wasn't just D Will's missed free throw. Ben Smith missed that traditional 3-point play free throw also (in regulation). Either one would have sealed it. But it was the Smith missed free throw that cinched it first (in regulation).. THAT would have ended it. If SMITH had just hit that freebie first..

I refuse to go on a 9 page rant, so I will keep this brief.

This program has won with great rebounding and defense. Until we get back to that, we're going to suffer more games like last night.

Part of the reason is that it appears Coach has seriously shortened the bench, probably because he trusts his seniors. Well he can trust them on the offensive end for the most part, however on D we're lost our way.

What happened to the rebounding? Drake is one of the worst in the country, so is UNI. Both competed with WSU, which is inexcusable. Again, when we return to our roots....

If we try to outscore Creighton, this game will look like a 10star model.....116-84, at best.

Kelly Self, Terry Moore, David Stevens. You SOBs can lick the cheese off my scrotum. At least the mentally disabled are consistent. You call the touch loose ball against Toure (fouling him out) but you let Rice's charge go, Simon's walk go etc etc....the charge on Garrett's and 1 was beyond brutal. DWill getting fouled....loose balls calling tie ups. Miserable game. You 3 are so far over your heads it's not funny. You have no idea how to manage a game and not be influenced by 3000 bandwagon fans. Retire or go sack groceries. GFY.

I won't fault DWill for the missed FT. He's been solid all season.

Bottom line, play defense and win that game.

If you sit anywhere near me at home games, please accept my apology right now. I'm done biting my tongue when a crew thinks Stutz is too big to be fair. The expletives are going to fly, and they're going to fly early. I sit close enough to be heard, and heard I shall be, and frankly it will be so off the hook obscene I'll probably get tossed. So what...these SOBs that can't be fair just because Garrett is big, I'm fed up with. It's ridiculous. Please give me John Higgins and any 2 other guys. He knows what big time basketball is about and can manage an idiot if needed.

36 FTs for The Drake and only 19 for WSU. Lots of times there is a legitimate reason for that kind of disparity, I don't think that was the case last night. It seemed like the Drake got away with a lot of grabbing and pushing and bumping. DW was certainly fouled when he got his own rebound near the end of regulation. The Drake was fouling GS and Carl Hall a lot. It seemed like Hall got hammered several times, no foul call.


I don't like to blame the refs but watching last night's game was frustrating in that regard. I just wish DW would have made those FTs and there would have been no OT.

I like the way the Shocks played hard in OT. They never gave up. I just wish they wouldn't have jacked up so many 3s. But if they had made a couple of them, we would be happy.

I thought the seniors in particular did play hard. I also thought once again Stutz (and Hall for that matter) were fouled a lot tonight (most of which went uncalled) but Stutz got called for very ticky tacky fouls.

Now onto to Springfield. It would be nice to get revenge for what they did to us last year.

No disrespect intended, but the term "played hard" is so overused in these situations. I see very few teams, ever, not play hard. It's that little phrase called playing smart that gets in the way. It's funny how that becomes an issue when we play critical games...just sayin!!!

Our big rebounding edge has pretty much dissappeared over the last few games. I just wish Carl Hall would become "the Beast" again. I think that is the big difference with our rebounding lately. Once Hall started getting more timid, our rebounding has really suffered.

I hope he is okay, Hall just hasn't seemed the same lately. I don't know if it is the grind of a long season, or if he is worrying about fouling, or if it is the impact of the 3 blind mice allowing other teams to hang all over him and bump him all night without calling a foul. Or all of these things, but we haven't seen the beast lately and we need him to return.

I loved the rant about the refs. I feel the same way.

If the Shocks could have made the 4th overtime, our starters would have likely all fouled out? Stutz and Toure' already did and D-Will, Rags, and Hall had 4. Mercy sakes alive!!! Our short shots at the end reminded me of the boxer in the 15th round with rubbery legs. Teams are getting smarter, especially in the 2nd half, on how to keep the ball away from Mr. Stutz and Mr. Hall inside. They outrebounded us by 2 which is rare. We had 18 turnovers to their 13 which came back to haunt us. On 3-pointers, we were only 7-25 (0.280) and Kyles was 0-8. Ouch!!! We were called for 29 fouls versus their 20? So even though we made .895 of our throws, they made 7 more than we did.

In the scheme of things, let's show our Shocks some clips of Mo State last Season pounding their chest over and over, celebrating at both sites to the max, and taunting our crowd last Season to a point of it becoming a travesty in my opinion. In Springfield it seemed so bad that I was befuddled they got away with such extremes. Do we want to witness more of the same or silence them with our game and beat them with some class? They gave Creighton a split so they will be a handful and have some very good players. Even so, we need this win all the more now to get back on track.
