Again mentioned the buzz from coaches about Bilau, specifically his defense, but also mentioned he’s dealt with recovery from an off season surgery in addition to the recent Covid restriction.
Looking forward to seeing both Porter and Bilau. i have high hopes for Bilau but I think it may take him a bit longer to get into the flow of things than it will for Porter. Bilau is just so inexperienced and has not had much opportunity to gain experience since joining the Shocks. I think Porter will be make an impact fairly quickly although hard to say what kind of physical condition he is in -- OTOH Trevin Wade was able to come off a long layoff looking pretty good.

Porter won a natty as a frosh. He's used to success as was Jackson. It's easy to see why GGG pursued them.

If Porter is the guard version of Jackson, then I'm ready to see a lineup of Jackson, Dennis, Porter, Etienne, and Gilbert.

The future's so bright - I gotta wear shades.
We like to cut down nets and get sized for championship rings.

I know there is a game of interest thread, but OSU struggling with ORU gives me help!

Sounds like we still wont have everyone back. I'm all for them being safe .. but a player that never tested positive shouldn't be held out for nearly 3 weeks. Hopefully with the new rules, they can start the re-integration at 7 days rather than 14 with no symptoms and a negative test.

I would think they have these protocols for a reason. But maybe someone who is a doctor can explain.

My non-doctor guess is the first 14 days were based on the original CDC guidelines for quarantine.

The re-entry phase in period is likely due to not wanting players to go from 0-100 after being shut down for 14 days. That invites potential injury and heart problems. Especially with the fact that one of the big concerns for football was myocarditis, which can be fatal if undetected and a player is under large exertion. That's why the Big 10 initially postponed their football season. That's also why they are required to take EKGs.

With that said, the new guidelines say that after close contact, 7 days quarantine + a negative test is sufficient (per the CDC). So there is no reason now that a player that has never tested positive to start going back through that re-entry phase at 7 days. That would make close contacts out only 2 weeks vs 3 weeks.

I don’t remember now where I heard it, coaches show or pre game interview, but I think Coach Brown said that some of the close contacts who initially tested negative ended up testing positive. Not necessarily related to your question but could explain why these guys are on different schedules.

Reading the article... it appears our “close contacts” eventually tested positive and became ill... which is why the timeline for each player’s return has stretched out...

I took that as happening before the season .. because they said they had some people quarantined for 24 days before. I didn't take that to mean that's what happened in the last 2 weeks.

Who did they get permission from?

Pretty sure Northeast Kansas College had 2500 yesterday.

WSU to Have Limited Capacity for Basketball Games

                                https://goshockers.com/news/2020/12/...all-games.aspx

5% of capacity - that's 525 people. I don't know if that includes team members and support staff, officials, radio and TV announcers, security details, janotors, etc.

                                Among other things:

The clear bag policy will be in effect for both games.

Fans age five and older will be required to wear a mask at all times unless actively eating or drinking.

Fans are asked to complete a self-health evaluation prior to coming to campus.
