  • The rest of our MVC schedule if nothing but teams over .500. Lucky us. With a good bracketbuster match up, it's going to be a grind, prepare yoself

    • This team has got to stop letting teams get back into games. I don't want to see anothe game like the creighton game.

Wow was stutz on fire in the first half. Happy 100 coach

      • There were some muggings on in the second half, especially on Stutz and the referees let it go inside. It was difficult for Stuta to establish position to receive the ball. Evansville fouled out one point guard and I think that their second had 4. In this game, I think that the referees lightened up. Evansville is a good team.

That's what happens when you have losses to Tennessee Tech and Illinois-Chicago on the resume, not to mention TCU at home. They are a .500 basketball team. Don't be surprised if they finish at that or below that when it is all said and done.
You gotta admit, though, Marty has done a good job pulling them out of the cellar. Five years ago they couldn't have dreamed of a 140 RPI. For the valley's sake I hope he can start recruiting better players.

          • I tend to agree that they have BECOME a good team....they play hard, present some matchup issues, and are well coached. Their inexplicable losses are just that...inexplicable.

            • Sawvell is going to be one of those valley players that you wouldn't trade for one of our guys, but always manages to hurt us. Never been that impressed with Ryan.

I wasn't. Sure, he scored 17 points and had to take 18 shots to do it. And considering they run him off about 35 screens a possession he should get shots off.

What impressed you? I wasn't impressed with his D. I wasn't impressed with his shooting as a whole. They run their offense for him like Sunrise used to run it for Chance Lindley. Run him off a billion screens and let him shoot as much as he wants. I don't recall him hitting many contested shots and missed a few open ones. I don't think he's a great shooter. He by no means sucks, but he's not what Evanville fans think he is.

He hit a 2 with his toe on the line.

If you compare Ryan to Joe Ragland you get an interesting comparison.

                                3-point Shooting percentage:
                                Ryan: .441
                                Ragland: .435

Percentage of all shots attempts taken from 2 point range:
                                Ryan: 60%
                                Ragland: 53%

                                2-point shooting percentage:
                                Ryan: 42%
                                Ragland: 64%

Both guys shoot around the same percentage from 3. Both guys take more 2 point attempts than 3s (and Ryan takes an even higher percentage than Ragland). However, Ryan's 2-point percentage is below 2% below his 3-point percentage, while Ragland's is 20% above his 3-point percentage. In other words, Colt Ryan is a very good outside shooter, but he is not the all around offensive player that a guy like Joe Ragland is (who can also match his outside shooting percentages).

                                To sum up:
                                Points Per Shot Attempt
                                Ryan: 1.49
                                Ragland: 1.62

                                Volume vs. efficiency
