  • Not many 7-footers can jump like EO.

Kyles hit a couple of 3's and the game was over.

Marshall shoulda got a T when Murry fumbled it outa bounds.

White can rebound. His feet are still not very good, but he works and he keeps improving.

Good minutes by Wessel. Cotton not so much.

The outlet pass by EO showed an awareness I did not realize he had.

    The refs sucked.

Sat in seats that were not my own. Waaaay more cramped than my row 31 seats.

DWill had a couple flashbacks to 2009.

Anacreon has a lot of flash and dash, but that does not get you minutes with HCGM.

Excellent interview with JW ad EO.

EO had not foreign accent at all. Odd.

    • EO was pretty fantastic! I think he needs to work on his feet a little more, but he showed last night he can go up strong!

Cotton had a rough game, I don't know what else to say except he picked a great night for it. I have noticed his shots seem a little flat.

White keeps improving and I love how inside-out he is, really going to help us stretch out the D to open things up inside! Showed he can grab boards also!

      Joe forced some shots.

I'm glad Kyles didn't force shots as much, TM became more of a passer, DW made big plays at the right time, and Hall showed up in the 2nd half!

      MTXE!
"Ralph Miller was one of the finest coaches in the history of intercollegiate basketball. His teams were always fundamentally sound, team oriented, well conditioned, and ran both their offense and defense with great patience. I know of no coach whose teams competed against his, whether it be at Wichita State, Iowa, or Oregon State, who did not have great respect for him."—John Wooden

Did anyone else hear the interview point where EO eluded to those "on the internet say I don't have hands. I just get nervous and fumble sometimes"

Your comment could refer to either the statement "the Shockers are going to have a big drop off next year" or the statement "Man are they in for a rude surprise." I will assume that you disagree with the second statement.

Now you could disagree with the second statement for one of two reasons.
          (1) WSU will be good next year but, after this game, it will not be a surprise.
          (2) WSU will not be good next year.

You have left yourself a huge amount of "wiggle room" and can later say "What I really meant was ... ; you misread my comment." Nice sports message board tactics.

Don't worry too much about it. Just do all you can do and let the rough end drag.

If EO has any doubts, he should know that Shocker fans have his back; we're 100% behind him. On the other hand, if Internet criticism helps him focus on his weaknesses and therefore become a better player, then this is the best possible outcome - EO is getting better and people on SN are helping.

Where is the big "EO" smiley?

The one thing I thought would hold EO back was his potential to be foul prone. I was pretty impressed by how he played defense without fouling last night. The rest was icing on the cake!
0 fouls on Garrett Stutz!! Progress!!!

                9 Rebounds
                4 Blocked shots

                1 Steal
2 Assists - Including a great outlet pass to Tekele and a backdoor pass to DK resulting in a 3 point play
                0 Turnovers

All in 22 minutes. Am I missing anything?
Actually, EO had 7 points on 3-3 shooting. He tipped a ball in late in the game that was credited to Randy V. Although the tip in was little bit lucky.

EO still has a lot of work to do at the line. Still doesn't look comfortable there and he will probalby get fouled a lot.

                • I happened to look up at the scoreboard in the last minute and commented to my friend that the group on the floor had 26 points for the night. Remember who that group was? Wessell, Anacreon, Vautravers, Cotton, and White. They finished with 28 points, TWO MORE THAN SIU HAD IN THE 2ND HALF. This group totaled 57 minutes, so just 11.4 minutes each. That translates to 98.25 for 40 minutes. All I can say is, GREAT JOB GUYS!

Remember when Nancy Pelosi said about Obamacare:
"We have to pass it, to find out what's in it".

A physician called into a radio show and said:
"That's the definition of a stool sample."

                  • First of all, it was not groovy being Stutzless at 21st and Hillside, especially when Mr. Hall picks up 2 quick fouls before we could even get our jackets off and get situated. Yikes!!! You would think all could have been like quick-sand from there? Nope, In walks some 'hungry for playing time Shocks' that made the very best of their opportunities. The more we play swarming high-octane D like last night, the more games and sweeps we will achieve. We have the most difficult part of our schedule coming over the horizon soon, very soon. Last night was a breath of fresh air versus not only last Season's comparison of that game, but also improving as a team while we also continue to develop quality depth. When you have 5 key Seniors leading the way, that is the time to seize the moments into a Season to remember.
Shocker basketball will forever be my favorite team in all of sports.

                    • Jake had at least two rebounds down at the student end where an SIU player had his left arm and he grabbed the soley ball with his right. One time he just about released an elbow in retaliation. Glad he didn't. Liked the attitude.
Where oh where is our T. Boone Pickens.

                      • I don't think that EO will be as effective against Eville. His strength is against post up players like last night. E'vill has players who go out on the perimeter and run through screens more with their motion offense. If he has to guard a mobile smaller player who is dribbling on the perimeter, EO isn't as effective. Maybe he's improved this defense because Hall has become good at defending on the perimeter, but I have my doubts.

                          • I don't personally believe in a zone for a significant of the game. It's great for a change of pace. We aren't good enough of a zone team to play it for a major portion of the game. You can't work on everything especially when you only have 2-3 practices between games. Most teams today use zone intermittently combined with pressure to throw teams off. They use it and come back to it for short times during the game.

SIU was beating on him pretty good. That's why he was beating on them right back.
