There's just no need for such things, and especially no need to brag about believing them in a public forum.

Let alone the discussion about whether it is the best tactic for recruiting. Obviously we should take advantage of our conference to recruit Houston, Memphis, Cincinnati and other easily accessible hotspots of talent. But we should also be scouring JUCOs in the Jayhawk Conference, getting players from Sunrise, and not dismissing Europeans. One doesn't have to look farther than the #1 team in the land to see that the best recruiting tactic is 'all of the above'. There has been a major development of talent in Europe and even Asia we would be wise to tap into.
It's clear in the context of our discussion that I'm not worrying about people's feelings. I even addressed that from the very start. I'm discussing recruiting reality stripped down to its barest form. Building a basketball team with a "babe of the woods" mentality regarding variability in racial physical attributes is not only a recipe for failure, it's delusional. It happens to be a core principle of the progressive political movement though (not to segue into politics for heaven's sakes), which is that we are all the same.

      Actually, we aren't.

I don't think I can make this any simpler for you guys but I'll try.

Imagine I have a 100 acre field and I only have a limited number of seeds. I know where the best dirt is, and I know where the bad dirt is. Should I cast some of my seeds in the bad area because there HAS to be some good soil there, or should I put all my limited seeds in the area that I'm assured to yield the most bumper crop?

This is only a mental exercise as the outcome (logic) in the debate is already available to us. Essentially what we are dealing with is someone who is willing to brazenly talk about the elephant in the room because he doesn't bring a filter to this board.

Maybe ask me what I think about profiling in the political section. Efficiency matters and is inevitable.
Except you don’t know where the good dirt is and bad dirt is in recruiting. You know who think will do well and who you think will do poorly. You think you know this based on the color of their skin, which you use to filter for the recruits you desire.

        Racism.

Stop trolling. Recruiting is literally everything. Rick Pitino is one of the greatest coaches in college basketball history. He currently leads the Iona Gaels. He could take his Gaels and play the Kentucky Wildcats (coached by yours truly), and I would run him out of the gym.

Gregg Marshall himself is Exhibit A) on how one can build a career based on recruiting disparity. That's what he did in the Big South and the MoValley. Once he got to the AAC, his weaknesses became more evident. For him to make the AAC his *****, he needed to be recruiting mostly high-major talent. Not blue-blood level, but more like Virginia. Solid 4-star ballers with NO physical weaknesses that will run through a wall for you. Give Marshall that crop of player and he will thrive in the AAC. I've always said that Marshall in the ACC or B12 would likely not have a fairytale ending.
If recruiting is everything, why hasn’t penny won a natty? He has literal superteams and has yet to even sniff a conference championship.

I know where you're coming from and you're padding up **** creek without a paddle my friend. :)

Okay, I'm gonna have to bow out of our exercise for a bit. Take care board!

You're talking about a high-school coach who collected 5-star prospects and moonlighted as a hair salon and grass cutting business owner. These are extreme examples.

And I said it's literally everything... all things considered equal. In other words, there is no single factor in a men's basketball team that will have the biggest impact over a crop of legit ballers. Give Penny ECU's roster and he goes o-fer.

It's a preliminary filter. You don't go, "Hey! There's a black! Sign him up!!!"

                But I already clarified this.

Again, this is only an exercise. The black influence on athletics is well documented. Those players weren't recruited by accident, or after going to every single white prospect on the planet prior. In fact, to do THAT, would be an example of racism. That would be trying to build a "white team".

I don't just see "black", I see positively correlated attributes.

My guess with a interim president, the decision was made that it would be very difficult to have a interim basketball coach and interim athletic director. I wouldn't be surprised to see the following progression:

                        1. Hire new president.
                        2. New president decides he needs to have new start in athletic department, hires new AD.
                        3. New AD hires new mens basketball coach.

Only other guess would be the Boatright had a "Pearl Harbor file" that showed he had informed the AD and President of what is going on and they made the decisions.

That is the unfortunate of WSU not releasing the investigation results - a lot of questions with very few answers.
The decision not to release the findings of the investigation was made at a pay grade above you and me. I can see no reason to release the findings to the general public. Would the investigation answer all the questions or would it raise many others. Would it tarnish some reputations and or legacy's or be detrimental to the University. The whole chain of events has played out and maybe the best we can hope is to move on and learn from this.

Correct. I want players based on their quickness, length, and vertical leap. They just happen to mostly be brown and black people.

The best debates are those you've won before the gauntlet has even been thrown. Then it's all just about measuring the space on your wall for the trophy.
