I think that a new offensive and defensive system is to blame. In a year, things should be much better. I'm not sure anyone needs to be blamed.

At the same time, Marshall does things differently than Turgeon. I'm sure Gregg emphasizes different aspects of the game than did Mark and this may affect things (e.g. better defense & worse shooting??).

Drake had a hand in the face of most of our outside shooters (and it seemed to bother them). I wish Aaron Ellis had played more because I think his high release would have made Drake's defense less effective.

Don't worry too much about it. Just do all you can do and let the rough end drag.

After reading all these negative posts I am positive about one thing. I am glad posters here are not the coach. :goshocks:

I know David and Ryan are playing at a lower level, but D is putting up some big # on offence and R as played his best games against Emporia # 7 at the time and Pittsburg State # 16 now and they are #1 in some offence and defence stats... Check NCAA.com and Heartland conference stats... Marshall made a big mistake by not taking a better look at all three
What an amazing first post. Always good to see when Judge Joe Brown takes time away from the bench to chime in with his misguided analysis of WSU basketball. 8)

He was a coach wanting to advance in his profession, which is something any person would give consideration for doing in any profession. Who doesn't want to get a better positon and more money??? Especially at his age?

And have you ever known any fanbase that was happy about a successful coach leaving to go to another, and most likely, a bigger program?

Most people probably would have done the same thing, if the truth was known, with the exception of the Bowles thing.

Great game Shockers. Though Drake was coming off a 2 week rest .. we still laid out the Shockers at their place. LOVE IT!

Drake did not play up to their potential but it was enough to to beat the Shockers. I just can't over the fact that Shocker fans are so intelligent and classy. Thanks for all the well wishs .. you guys are the best fans in the world and I'm sure the Shocker players and coaches are really proud to have such incredible fans.

Out of respect to the Shocker players I will add that IMO Marshall is a little like the Dr. in terms of game plan. Very stubborn and wants the men to play his plan as opposed to playing to the team's/player's strengths. Durly is a ton and why he isn't playing more is beyond me.

What gives Mc? I am not sure I have ever seen WSU fans "dis" DU but you seem as if you are "owed" some form of payback?

Maybe you just got an early start on the NYE activities but your post seems a bit out of line.

I actually thought your team executed at a high level and played a pretty solid game. Perhaps this is the begining of a new world order in the Valley.

However, coming on here and talking about paybacks seems a bit premature to me and somewhat troublesome. For one its going to be a long season anyway.

I for one suggest that other teams get as many good jabs in as they can and do it fast. Enjoy kicking us while we are down. Just don't go home crying to your mom and the other 12 Drake fans when the tables are turned.

If this is the way opposing guests are going to act while visiting our board, I really hope you enjoy having the number of threads on your own board triple (from 2 to 6 probably) by the likes of 'Cold etc. when judgement day comes. I only hope for your sake that day doesn't come this year.

McBull, I thought Drake played about the best that they could play last Saturday so congrats to Drake for coming in here and winning for only the 2nd time in 12 years. We all know it is not easy to win road games the MVC. Just don't get too cocky over one win. You still have 17 more Valley regular season games to play.

I will have to say though, Drake cannot defend the free throw line which is where I believe we lost this game. Had we made even 8 out of the 15 (53%) free throws that we missed, we would have been looking at a possible overtime and that is where we would have got you, IMHO.

I look forward to the rematch at the end of the season. I think that you will see a totally different Shocker team at time.

Forget making 8 of 15 to force overtime. Had we made 5 or 6 of of those 15, the shoe is on the other foot near the end and Drake is trailing instead of us.

Add to that making just one more 3-pt attempt or taking away one more of those wide-open 3's the Bulldogs got and the outcome is very different.

It sounds like Drake played well, but WSU lost that game. It probably won't be the last one this season either.

You mean of WSU losing to Drake? Cause it's probably gonna happen again.

It may have been my first post, but I have been on the inside of the team for the last three years and MT talked out of both sides of his mouth as well as any con man I have come across. Chris left because of him, so did David and some other things I will keep private. Ryan is another story, he loved MT but got the screws put to him because MT still did not know if he could play and did not want to look bad if he became a player for Marshall, so he cut him. Marshall talked to him 3 or 4 times and was aways positve about his skills but did not know what to do. Coach Potter needed an answer and Ryan did not want to blow his chances at Newman and also lose the love of his life. So say what you will about MT as a coach, I say OK. But as a person NOT OK. How was that for my second post. I been watching and reading you guys crying for a time now and it's about time I put my 2 cents in. Most of the time you have know Idea what going on with team and them as people. And as Sean goes I give him about a 20% chance of playing college ball again. He did not do his school work at wichita and why would start now.

My post truly can be taken either way. I know WSU fans that I respect and would do anything for .. they could call me 3:00am and I'd drive from Des Moines to help them out in any way I could. And though I've never met you Dr, your treatment of a good friend of mine leads me to bellieve you would be a friend also. By the way .. that friend can't thank you enough for your generosity. BUT, there are a lot of Shocker fans that can kiss my a-s-s. I'm sure you can understand that, right? I don't know how long you've read the message boards but there are a ton of Shocker fans that are nothing more than a-holes. You know it, I know it, the whole league knows it. So as I've posted before -

To the good Shocker fans .. who loves ya baby!
To the scumbag Shocker fans .. eat shat!

Obviously you're not Jo Brown the former Board Of Education member.

Mark wanted those guys to be successful. I hope they are and you can bet he does too. These three men could be embarrassed having you share these emotions.

Just exactly where on the inside of the team? Assistant coach? Equipment manager? Red shirt? Or just a wannabe?

Did you ever tell Coach Turgeon that you were unhappy with him because he was a con man?

McBull inspires the shat that he gets. He really likes it. He's sincerely into scat. You should see him.

I was sitting across the table from Jonathon Cox's parents after the game. Jon SR. was talking to someone on the phone. "No, everyone has been wonderful. The people sitting around us were congratulating us."

While he finshed his converstion Jon' mother went on about how hospitable people are. Mr. and Mrs. Cox and their daughter are first class all the way. The know how to act.

Every school has posters that crawl out of the woodwork.

As one who attends many away games, I can tell you the same thing. many very nice fans, very courtious and nice and then there's always a few (usually drunk) a-holes who have to try to ruin it for everyone. You just have to let those slide off your back. Some people simply have no class but it's been my experience most do. Got to expect both unfortunately when hitting the road and try to remember the vast majority were great; same everywhere. Telling any fans to eat shat only serves to lower yourself to their standards.
