Just how many times do you have to tell someone to do something before they do it???

In the case of my kids, more times than I can remember. Heck I've got a thirteen year old that even after all these years, still can't make his bed in the morning. And I'm not in his room playing a match-up zone against him. :(
"Hank Iba decided he wouldn't play my team anymore. He told me that if he tried to get his team ready to play me, it would upset his team the rest of the season." Gene Johnson, WU Basketball coach, 1928-1933.

You know how to cure that don't you?

Drop and give me 50 (every morning it isn't made).

        On the minus side . . .
It's pretty bad when my favorite play of the game (favorite by far) is seeing Aaron jump comletely over that dude. Not score or board or block a shot, he just plain elevated.

        On the plus side . . .
JT is just a Frosh!!! Wonder how his #'s compare to Paul or PJ when they were freshmen? He will be fun to watch as his minutes increase.

The only thing that will cure this situation is recruiting. And Clevin Hannah is a good start. Rule#1: If your point guard(s) can't shoot free throws, at best, you will be a .500 team. Currently, Matt is shooting 50% from the stripe and Gal is not/never will be a point guard.

          Regarding Preadom, judge for yourself:

          Wendell Preadom Career Stats
          3FG: 13.8% (5-36)
          FG: 36.9% (44-119)
          FT: 47.3% (27-57)
          Assist to turnover ratio: 1.2
          Career minutes: 858
Egotism is the anesthetic of stupidity.

Gal needs to be seeing more bench. I'd almost take Preadom over Gal right now.

We have nothing after MB at the point.

PJ and RC really need to find a way to quit getting in so much foul trouble. We need them on the floor and suffered during their pine time last night. Speaking of pine time, next year we will be much deeper at the SG position, so Gal better start bringing his A game. Drake is a better team this year than last, but we just were not focused as a team last night at times. They did play smart and we need to beat them their later. It has been rare for along time for Drake to come here and beat us.

ILL. State may be better than Drake. However, if we come to play, we should beat them at home. This Season will continue to have some ups and downs. We can beat good teams but we have to come to play. Otherwise, we will stub our toe and end up like last night on the short end of the stick.

FSF keeps thinking our dismal 3 point and free throw shooting woes has been an aberration. However, now it is becoming time to rethink some strategies through with this sqad. My confidence is in HCGM to do just that. This loss was not the end of the world but it may have been a good wake-up call as to the Shocks digging in to sratch and claw, and find ways to get us on a more consistant path.
Shocker basketball will forever be my favorite team in all of sports.

It always seems like our Offense sputters, rarely does it ever get to flowing smoothly. We need to create more on Offense.

I understand the emphasis on Defense, but I sure hope that CGM doesn't suffer from the 'Herm Edwards' syndrome? (all defense, no offense)
I was impressed with how smoothly Drake ran its offense. The only equivalent for the Shocks was in the first half when JT was scoring near the basket. Why didn't he play more in the second half?

Gal tries to do more than he should because nobody else seemingly tries to do anything. If you've watched Gal in practice, he knows all the plays and what everyone should be doing on the court. IMO, he knows the system better than anyone else besides MB. Once he gets under control and stops trying to make the highlight play, he'll be a very solid player.

Lets see, you want to do the following:

                            1. Get rid of a player who scoring 9 pts per game
                            2. Who's a leading FT shooter on the team
                            3. Who's one of minimal threats from outside
                            4. Is second in assist on the team

and you want to replace him with a player:

                            1. Who has no offensive skills and can't shoot the 3pt
                            2. Who is 2 for 10 from the FT line

I guess that's why your posting on SN and not actually coaching at the Div I level.

Who's going to replace MB and PJ? They are right behind GM in turnovers and Gal has actually been improving in the area of "stupid turnovers" while PJ and MB have some "head scratchers" out there. I guess MB could use the excuse of he's got a concussion for a couple of his decisions.

While Gal's mistakes are often obvious, he is much more talented than Preadom. It is certainly not a "toss-up" between Gal and Wendell. And Marshall doesn't think so either; look at minutes per game: Gal 31.2 Wendell 10.3
