    Unless the crowd caused

    1. Stutz to play like a fifi

    2. Murray to decide to start janking up 3pointers (somebody might want to tell Murray he is shooting 20% from 3's-every time he shoots one he is helping his team lose)

    3. Ragland to become a average point guard with no leadership skills and a pissy attitude

    4. Kyles to continue to hunt his shot at the detriment of his team

I'm not buying it. Only a fool cheers for the effort the seniors put on the floor yesterday.

And there were a lot of fools in the crowd because even with all that the crowd's effort was well above average. So we get a B+ effort from the crowd for a D- effort by the team. Not too bad really.

I haven't read every post in this thread, but here are my two cents:

We, the crowd, are there to be entertained. We are not there to make our team play better (even if it has that effect). If we are, then we should get paid to be there, not the other way around. Getting the players to play are the jobs of the players and coaches, not the crowd.

Unless the crowd gets a technical for its behavior that results in a loss, the crowd is never to blame.

100% agreed. The crowd was electric before tip off and was ready to go. It was there late in the first half as well. Then the team (minus Carl Hall) decided to play like animal feces. The crowd is one of the best in the country here but it's not super human or unintelligent either. You can't make noise if there is nothing to make noise to.

This thread is honestly one of the poorest I've seen on here in a long time.

Gee, it's kinda hard to get into the game when an 8 point halftime lead evaporated into thin air about 120 seconds in.

            Get a freaking clue.

That is actually not true. Sure, CU scored the first 4 points of the second half, but we scored that next 5 to take a 9 point lead (44-35) with about 16 and a half minutes left in the game.

When I said the start of the second half, I meant the very beginning, the "dudley clap" (or should I call it the clap, clap, clap your hands clap now) About a third of the people in our area didn't even stand up for the start of the second half, and those that did didn't clap.

My wife made the comment to me, why aren't people clapping, don't they know this is CREIGHTON.

And then as soon as Creighton scored they sat down never to budge or make much of a sound again until there was about 5 minutes left in the game when they slowly started leaving. Our area was half empty with about 30 seconds left in the game. They seem more worried about getting to the parking lot early then who actually wins the game.

Now in all fairness our area has been like this every game this year except for UNLV. I guess I was hoping they would bring it more than one game a year, but maybe I was hoping for too much. Especially since this was arguably our most important home game of the year and our only home game this year on a espn network.

I kind of measure how good our crowd was by how many times I end up standing which was only twice in the second half and not for very long each time (got yelled at to sit down once).

They did actually stand up and show a little excitement a few times in the first half. Maybe it just wore them out.

I know our area is a little old, maybe I need to set bottles of Geritol on all the seats around us before the next game to get people going.

Wow. I bet I stood up 6 or 8 times in the second half.

I wasn't sure we were even going to stand and clap to start the second half (many in my section didn't). I don't know if the 8 point half time lead and new year's eve parties on people's minds took the focus off the game or what. But the crowd just didn't contribute either in the second half.

I don't want to ever hear again what a great crowd we have, because we also totally failed in the second half.
This is the second time that you have recently pulled this cr*p, pinning the success and failures of this team or program on Shocker fandom. This is not Biddy basketball and that's not children out there playing. They are young adults, many, 4 year seniors who know all to well the quality of Shocker fans. For the players themselves, they also know that they and the coaching staff create the success or failure of each game. That was a horrible 2nd half of basketball created by both. Carl Hall, new to the program, had no problem playing his heart out in this game and being successful at it, good crowd or not.

This team will learn and man up, or fall short. Last year, the team won @SIU and @UNI and @ Ind St in regulation, lost to SUI and UNI at home and took 3 OTs to beat Ind St. I suppose this was the fans fault?

The fans were taken out of the game numerous times in the second half, mostly by the Shockers themselves. By the way, did I miss "Dudley" being played to start the second half?

You know what makes me spit nails? I have been to my fair share of Shocker games in the flesh, but yet I have never scored one basket. I cheer like a rock star for the black and yellow, sneer at the refs through my rose colored glasses, and tell those next to me what we need to do to win as they just grin as if to say--"I bet this "fsf live wire" has never made one 'thin dime' coaching b-ball, even at the Biddy level." If that is what they were thinking, I would have to exclaim they are correcto baby!!!!!!! We have great fans whom were here through the best and darkest moments and fill the place up and get rowdy and take the good with the bad.
Shocker basketball will forever be my favorite team in all of sports.

The band played dudley for what seemed like 30 seconds and then they stopped and they played "clap, clap, clap, clap your hands" over the speaker system before the start of the second half.

It seems like maybe they are trying to phase Dudley out.

I think maybe the people in our area think you quit clapping when they stop Dudley early, I don't know.

That explains why when I got back to my seat, just about 15-20 seconds before play started, why the crowd was so quite. Nothing like firing the crowd up, then quieting them down with "clap, clap, clap". I hate that stupid thing. Also notice, that they're trying new "Loud" and "Louder" signs on the video board. They did not work. I counted only one time for the "noise-meter" in the second half (probably the game) and it did get the crowd fired up. And this scripting thing for the band is horrible. One time, after we went down by 4-6 points, they played the "Low Brass Cheer". You want to blame someone else other than the players for lack of crowd noise......the timing for the band, video board, and "money-making" stunts at TOs did it repeatedly.

Regardless what happened at the beginning of the half, the crowd stood up NUMEROUS times throughout the remainder of the game trying to get the Shocks over the hump. Each and every time the crowd tried to get into it, Creighton would score or we would force up a bone-headed shot. I'm sorry SuperFan1989. That is not the recipe for creating crowd noise and atmosphere.

You're right on the money ST. 1989, instead of coming on here and blaming losses on one of the best fanbases in the country, why don't you actually comment on you know.. the whole gameplay and coaching of last night. You haven't made a single comment about that after the game. Instead, all of your posts have come crashing down on the crowd for some reason. The crowd isn't paid to win basketball games. We actually are the ones that are doing the paying. That crowd was PACKED to the brim and ready to EXPLODE, but because of THE PLAY ON THE COURT, it wasn't going to happen.

Your lame excuses and calling out of the fanbase, which was constantly praised by the ESPNU commentators last night, needs to STOP. It's becoming very annoying.

Yeah. I was talking specifically about the second half last night.

Mike Kennedy's sidekick (the guy who took Dave Dahl's place) said last night in the post game analysis that "the crowd really never got going in the second half".

Paul S. in his blog said "CU 57, WSU 51 (6:50) - Crowd silent. Jays are getting open shots and making them. WSU cold from three."
