I am sure at some point I am going to hear about it from some of them but so far I have been lucky enough not to talk to any of them.

We only have one loss in conference. Three, maybe four losses will win it. I still like our team and our coaches...our chances. If we were going to lose one, I would rather it have been on the road but losing a close game to a top 20 team is nothing to be ashamed of. Beating a top 20 team by nearly 20 is pretty impressive also.

Creighton even after beating us in Wichita, dropped out of one poll and is barely hanging on in the other one. The national pollsters obviously don't respect WSU enough right now or a CU win over WSU in Wichita would have helped them more.

I'm surprised they managed to even stay in one poll. That was because they beat US on the road. The reason they dropped didn't have anything to do with WSU and respect. It had absolutely 100% to do with the Creighton getting pasted at home to an 8-5 Missouri State team.
And by the way WSU portrayed itself on national tv, what respect do we actually deserve? Take off the blinders once in a while.Deuces Valley.
... No really, deuces.

uh duh! DID YOU EVEN READ MY FIRST PARAGRAPH! I started by saying that since CU lost at home to MO State. I guess you are a little slow today. My whole point was that since CU lost at home to MO State, it hurt them. It hurt them to the point that beating us in WICHITA was not enough to stop them from dropping out of one poll and barely hanging on in the other.
It also meant that if he had beat them on Saturday, it wouldn't have been enough to propel us into the top 25.
As for the second part of your comment:
* I didn't comment on whether we deserved it or not, I was just pointing out that based on what happened in the polls, they don't respect us enough yet that beating us at home would save CU from taking a big hit for losing at home to Mo St.
Personally I was anxious to see how much our win over UNLV and our other body of work was being viewed by the national media. Obviously we have our answer. And that is what I was saying. We don't yet have that national respect. And I doubt if we can get it before the end of the season unless we beat CU in Omaha IF CU is still ranked by then AND we we win out between now and then.

I wasn't intending to discount Saturday's game... My point - WSU has won quite a few big games. The previous posters seem to think WSU has lost every big game since Marshall became coach.
The melt down after losing to this CU team is funny. CU has more talent than WSU this year including a legit NBA prospect. I expected WSU to win the game at home, but every neutral observer expects CU to be the best team this year and I am not about to start throwing players and coaches under the bus for not winning.

We were getting respect with the UNLV win and our little winning streak. We were getting almost double-digit votes in both polls. The respect was coming and was given. The part you're forgetting about is when it mattered at home, we peed down our legs as an 8-point home favorite to Creighton and we looked God-awful doing so. Not only did we lose, but we lost in ugly fashion. Again, that is not a selling point for getting respect. Maybe by the time we get back on national television again, we should try to avoid doing this and then maybe respect will be earned.Deuces Valley.

After giving this some thought, I'm going with something a previous poster mentioned. I'd quote it, but I'm too lazy to look back through all the pages to find it.
The last competitive game WSU played was Dec. 10. That's 3 weeks that includes finals, semester break, and Christmas with family. This was kind of a "reverse trap" game. The trap was that the Shox had not been tested or even challenged for weeks and then ran into a very good team. CU just got beat, so they already learned their lesson about hungry opponents.
The Shox came out tight as a drum at the beginning of both halves. When a team is used to opponents rolling over, is tight going into a big game, and a few things start going wrong, it can be really hard to get things going in the right direction. I think the team was just too accustomed to things working too easily, and when things didn't work against CU, the shock of "this just isn't working - it's supposed to work - it's always worked before" took over.
"What can I do to make this work" was needed, but the shock of nothing working was just too big to allow time to think about solutions instead of problems. 35 seconds is an amazingly short period of time when you're the guy on the court. The future's so bright - I gotta wear shades.
We like to cut down nets and get sized for championship rings.
