I also think our three big guys split of the 5. That means Jackson gets the back up minutes at the 4. Probably only one of Council/Jenkins/Seymour gets PT on the wing backing up Dennis, Etienne, and maybe one of our JC PGs.

Gilbert at the 1, with some combo of minutes by Porter and Lil Wade. That's a very experienced SR and 2 JUCOs behind him.

Sr Big Wade at the 4, with experience backup from IPBC, RS Bilau, and Jr Seymore. It's going to be hard to take very minutes from this group.

That leaves the 2 and the 3. Right off the bat, Etienne and Dennis may play as many or more minutes than anyone else on the team. Plus, JR's Wade and Porter can play the 1 and 2. What ever is left at the 2 and minutes not used by Dennis at the 3 is left. Jr Jackson, Fr Jenkins, and Fr Council divide those.

Until we actually see the new players, we won't know how close (or better) the freshmen will be to JUCO juniors.

I'm real excited about all the new players, but there is also a lot of unknowns at this time.
Seymour is a FR, not a JR.

Thanks. Even had him counted as 1 of the 3 freshman in my previous post 2 up from there. Just how short is my mind.

He can drive and finish like we’re all hoping Dex can do this year.

He’s playing against high school kids and there aren’t any 23 year old 6-10 centers in those vids.

                  Lots of potential though.

Yes, but the next time I see DD do a spin move on a drive in the lane with a nifty lob pass to the center might be the first.

It should also be a huge benefit this year, and especially the years to follow, for our young guards and players to learn from Gilbert's expert seasoned experience. A factor we were definitely missing last year.

C Jenkins game kinda looks to me like he might have a similar skill set as Caleb Mills. It would be nice if his freshman year played out the way Mills did. Or is it just my hope of a major contributor coming from a new Shock??

I was really impressed with Mills. We need a couple guys like that.

How has COVID-19 affected Wichita State Shockers? - FanSided Sports

"With COVID-19 affecting programs around the country, the Shockers are no exception despite net having football.

Gregg Marshall couldn’t have asked for a worse time to quarantine in the middle of the country. Travel and in-person visits were critical for Wichita State’s effort on the recruiting trail, so there’s no doubt it had an impact on his squad. As a team that had six scholarship players leave and graduated their experienced center, Marshall had a lot of work to do this summer. For the most part, he did a good job all things considered, but let’s look at some areas that COVID-19 has shown it’s impacts.

                              Transfers
Although there were a wave of transfers for the Shockers, COVID didn’t have a major impact on many of them. There was certainly a good amount of head-butting between players and the coaching staff, from broken promises and coaches not seeing effort.

...Let’s dive into how the Shockers are trying to do it.

                              Recruiting
With several key spots to fill, Marshall quickly turned to familiar places. He landed UConn grad transfer Alterique Gilbert along with two top JUCO products in Clarence Jackson and Craig Porter. Building on that momentum, he signed two 3-star prospects from the east coast. Ricky Council IV is a dynamic guard prospect at 6-4, 218 lbs from North Carolina. Council is joined by Chaunce Jenkins from Virginia, an athletic 6’4 guard that has shown flashes of potential....

The one recruiting positive for Wichita State may have also been caused by the virus. Center Morris Udeze decided to return to WSU after a visit with the coaching staff. It was certainly a weird process, as he officially announced he was transferring and was recruited by other schools before returning. The high-flying Dexter Dennis also decided to return to Wichita State after considering the NBA Draft process.

Although we won’t know the true impact of the virus until the dust settles and scheduling information begins to come out in more detail, there’s no doubt Wichita State has been as affected as anyone. Their home court advantage will certainly take a hit as a live crowd doesn’t seem like a reasonable thought just yet. Meanwhile, Gregg Marshall and his Shockers await the decision of the American Athletic and other conferences around the country."
