Every year on Thursday of Wichita Open week at Crestview I get about 15 burgers from Timbuktu for my media room volunteers and media to break up the monotony of sandwiches all week. They are awesome with the jalapeño mustard sauce. Yum, yum.

My ICT dwelling fraternity brothers and I would meet up there every Monday. Last restaurant in Kansas my wife and I ate at before moving to Alaska.

There was a restaurant that was next to a motel on West Kellogg near Tyler Rd or ridge Rd. Gaudy red and black interior, but great steaks and burgers. They cooked over mesquite. Forgot the name though. Based on the interior it was there in the 60's or 70's and stayed into the 90's, maybe longer.

I think it was the Amarillo Grill.

It was originally a second half of the 70's bar and disco named Nirt and Gerty's that had a decent run of popularity as I recall.

Yes, I remember that one... and Pogo's. Those were the days my friends...

I was a Stage Door and Casino guy myself.

Liked me some Board of Regents.

This thread makes me a bit homesick.

                  - Fat Ernie's: Breakfast and chicken fried steak dinner
                  - Ziggy's
                  - Walts at central and rock
                  - Taco Shop is a guilty pleasure we really miss after a 'night out on the town'.
That rug really tied the room together.

You would think that Terrell Benton would have a longer list considering how long he was at WSU.

Legion's fearless leader Stephen Downey, age 69, died peacefully on November 15th at his home in Wichita, KS after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Steve was born June 30, 1952 to James and Shirley Downey, attended Wichita North High School, and made a successful career out of his passion

I met Bryan Hill (we sat next to each other) in my very first class at WSU in the fall of '69.

While I first saw my future wife at the CAC, I first met her as I asked her to dance at the Casino.

I have asked people many times to overnight some taco shop to AK, to no avail.

I was going there as a high school sophomore. I saw Bryan Hill for years at Town East Mall sitting in the window of the piano store playing the organ.

Surprised double dribble or Tyrone Shoelace didn't ship you a load... we know Tyrone loves Taco Shop. My favorite was always Taco Grande and later Taco Tico... great after all-nighters.

I liked Dr. Redbird's Medicinal Inn.

Best ham sandwich was The Cedar.
