When I knew the Amarillo, it was east of Woodlawn on Central back in behind Downey Lahey Mortuary. Great steakhouse!

I remember something back in there although I'm thinking at the back of the building immediately east of the mortuary. Can't remember if it was an Amarillo Groll or not however. Might have been there then moved to the Carriage Parkway location.

This article talks about an Amarillo Grill on 3151 N. Rock Road and on at 5730 E Central ( which would be at the Carriage Parkway location).

Definitely at the Central and Woodlawn location. Ate there many times.

ah the Cedar. Their hoagie was the best. Great place for pre-game because it was so close.

My bad, it was the College Inn. And didn't Antoine Carr buy the place and rename it either AC's or Antoine's?

Was that before or after the Central and Carriage Parkway location? I'm thinking maybe before?

Not me. Too expensive. We went with the generic beer in the white can the just had "Beer" on it. As I got older and came into money, I went with a better brew. I believe it was Lowenbrau.

Amarillo Grill was behind the mortuary and the Baskin Robbins just east and south of Central and Woodlawn.
Best steaks I ever had. Something about the mesquite wood.
But the flavor was in the grill, because when they moved to Carriage Park, it wasn't the same.

Better than the Crotch and Groin (Scotch and Sirloin) at Kellogg and Bluff.
I lived 3 doors north of the orginal Crotch and Groin.

When we come back to Wicita, must visit the original Nuway and get a crumbly burger and a root bear.

Also, MUST visit the Nifty Nut House.

In fact, I gave Mike and Dave a hard time on the pregame show about being unfair to mention the Nifty Nut House when I live in Arizona and can't visit it.

I always said it was because of the crematory next door!

The Stage Door was the place I would be three nights a week. Went to high school with Richard Lamb (trombone) Brad Barrett (drums) And classes with Archie Eutsler (Hammond organ) at WSU Great times.

Loved Amarillo Grill. I think the same guy that owned it owned another of my favorites - Magnolia Cafe at Central and Woodlawn.

I was told that before it was Amarillo Grill behind the mortuary, it was the Old Waystaion, back in the 70s. I was also told that they had great burgers.
