The way the stones are falling, it may be the better option. With so many colleges all but ruling out College Basketball this season, better as a player to do something rather than spend another year (or two, or three, or ten?) waiting for something that may not happen within a players 4-5 years of eligibility. Put up some glass just like a hockey rink, lets get some fans in CKA and jump ball already. -

The American Athletic Conference is moving its home base from Providence, Rhode Island, to Irving. The organization has leased 18,000 square feet on the third floor of the Summit at Las Colinas and will relocate its 30 employees to Texas this summer.
The 12-team conference, which is seeking recognition as a Power 6 conference, has been based in Providence since 1979. It’s moving to Las Colinas to reside closer to many of its member institutions....
“We chose The Summit because it is an extremely attractive and well-managed state-of-the-art building that will offer unparalleled amenities for our office staff and visiting membership in the heart of the Dallas metro-area business community,” said Mike Aresco, commissioner of The American. “We will enjoy the central location, access to the outstanding nearby airports, and to the desirable residential areas, restaurants, and many cultural attractions in the region.”...

I was wondering how long they would want to stay in the frozen tundra after the "Flagsship" left the conference. And I use the term flagship because that is the way UGone perceives themselves. This move makes a whole lot of sense.Comment

Just because they are moving to Texas why would you think they would leave all of the now current people working in the AAC in the east and hire Texans. Even if they are currently in the east they are probably smart enough to find Texas or at least use Google maps to find their way. As far as the big 12 goes Texas tried to be the power broker and Nebraska was feeling insecure and moved to the big. Texas AtM hated Texas so much they wanted to be anywhere not associated with the other Texas school. Missouri thought they would become a power in the sec if they moved from the shadow of ku and that hasn't quite worked out for them. Texans as a whole only discovered the sport in the last decade or so. And they still don't give a damn about it. Again, look how it worked out for the Big 12. We will have a homecourt advantage at any tournaments played there, but that isn't necessarily what is good for the conference.Originally posted by pogo View Post
