        • Looks like Nick Van Exel could be taking Millers spot on the bench.

          Interesting.

          • Who's Next: Ranking the Teams Duke Basketball Hasn't Played - Sports Illustrated

            By Shawn Krest
            Jun 6, 2020

            https://www.si.com/college/duke/bask...b-hasnt-played

Out of the 353 teams in Division I, Duke basketball has played more than 225 at some point in its history.

Many of the teams, such as Merrimack, Cal Baptist and North Alabama, are relatively new to Division I. Others, however, have a long history but, for some reason, just haven’t crossed paths with the Blue Devils. The list includes seven schools who have made the Final Four and one who won the national title. Duke knocked two off the list last season—Central Arkansas and Stephen F. Austin.

We looked at the remaining teams Duke has yet to play and ranked the ones that would be the most intriguing game. Here’s a look at the top of the list...

            10. High Point...
            9. UTEP...
            8. Dartmouth...
            7. Indiana State...
            6. TCU...
            5. Nebraska...
            4. Washington State...
            3. Ole Miss...

            2. Wichita State: The Shockers have developed into a national factor under coach Gregg Marshall and will likely cross paths with Duke eventually if they continue making runs in the NCAA tournament.

            1. Houston: Phi Slama Jama made it to five Final Fours but were never at a peak when Duke was a national threat. Houston has been on the upswing in recent years and could find itself tangling with the Blue Devils in the near future."

We potentially could play Duke in Atlantis.

              • With CoVid-19 on the loom this fall, I'm still not convinced even Aquaman could find the missing city of Atlantis so the teams will get to play....

but yes, I'm hoping for a Duke matchup as well.

                • Ranking college basketball's top 20 transfers of the 2020 recruiting cycle
                  By: David Cobb

                  https://www.cbssports.com/college-ba...ruiting-cycle/

"Here are the top 20 transfers to watch coming out of the 2020 recruiting cycle

When the NCAA Division I Council opted last month against implementing comprehensive new transfer legislation for the 2020-21 academic year, it likely stopped a second wave of entries into college basketball's transfer portal. The council's vote called for more time to develop the new rules to govern what will be a substantial change to college sports: allowing athletes in all sports to transfer once without having to sit out for a season.

The change appears destined to come eventually -- maybe even by the 2021-22 season -- but it won't go into effect this season, and that almost assuredly means that some players who were thinking about entering the transfer portal now will choose to stay put for at least another season.

Even still, dozens of high-major caliber players opted to transfer this offseason. Those who can't graduate by the end of this summer will need waivers if they are going to suit up for the 2020-21 season. But whether they play this season or in 2021-22, here are the top-20 who are on the move....

                  5. Landers Nolley - Old school: Virginia Tech | New school: Memphis
If Nolley does not receive a waiver for immediate eligibility, it would be a particularly tough pill to swallow for him and for Memphis. That's because Nolley already took one redshirt during his first year at Virginia Tech. It would be tough for Memphis as well after the Tigers took a hit when Jalen Green opted for the G-League over playing college basketball. But whether it's this season or the season after, Nolley will be a force for Memphis on the wing, which is where he wants to play after he was pegged as a stretch four at Virginia Tech. The ACC All-Freshman performer has an NBA build and the two-way chops to match it....

                  12. David DeJulius - Old school: Michigan | New school: Cincinnati
It's worth wondering whether DeJulius still would have transferred if he'd known that Josh Christopher was going to pick Arizona State over Michigan and that Isaiah Todd was going to turn pro instead of becoming a Wolverine. Nonetheless, the former four-star guard is headed to a spot where he should be able to shine. Cincinnati is losing a good bit of production from its 2019-20 roster. That opens the door for DeJulius, who averaged 7 points, 2.4 rebounds and 1.5 assists while hitting 36.1% of his 3-pointers off the bench for Michigan last season....

                  15. DeAndre Williams - Old school: Evansville | New school: Memphis
The 6-9 forward will have two seasons to play at Memphis once he's eligible. Williams has an intriguing case for a waiver considering the upheaval that occurred during his lone season at Evansville. After a momentous upset at Kentucky, coach Walter McCarty was placed on leave and ultimately fired. The Purple Aces then played under an interim coach and a new head coach in the second half of the season. It remains a question how Williams' stretch forward capabilities will translate to a higher level. But he averaged 15.2 points, 6.9 rebounds and made 45.5% of his 3-pointers last season, and the Tigers will give him ample opportunity to play an essential role after the departure of AAC Player of the Year Precious Achiuwa...."

                      • Houston deserves everything it gets. My understanding is that the dumbass adminstration allowed the players to return to the Houston campus without initially medically testing the players. They allowed players to have individual workouts and then subsequently learned of the results when they finally started doing testing. Talking about Sht for brains.

They clearly must have been following the lead of their dumb ass Governor that believes you can open everything back up without taking any precautions. No wonder the state of Texas is a dump. The virus is on the rise in Texas. "Hooken horns" What I can not understand is that if they were going to follow the Governor's dumb rule, why not go all out and just have the players take Clorox. That will magically make the virus go away.

                          • Houston is a hot mess. Texas is one of the hottest spots in the nation for CV right now. If UH brought athletes onto campus from their homes outside Houston in May or June, the admins at UH were either insane or they thought the athletes could develop immunity before the fall seasons started.

That might not be a bad plan. The problem with that plan is that some recovered CV people have lung damage, and athletes with lung damage are called "former students".

                            • Stats say otherwise. Texas has a big population. The infection rate not nearly as high as many states. Here are the stats.
As of Mar. 2023, two U.S. states had COVID rates higher than 42 cases per 100 population. Maryland had the lowest rate of cases.

                                American Conference Offseason Breakdown
June 13, 2020 by Jon Rothstein

"College basketball is at a standstill.

The NCAA’s announcement that Aug. 3rd is the new early entry withdrawal date for the 2020 NBA Draft means that we’re going to have to wait seven more weeks until we have full clarity for the 20-21 college basketball season.

Not to worry, between now and then we will break down one conference each week from soup to nuts.

This week we’ll feature the American.

The rankings below will be altered immediately if there’s any personnel changes.

Check below for a comprehensive list of power rankings, projected lineups, and much more:

                                1. Houston
                                2. SMU
                                3. Memphis
                                4. South Florida
                                5. Cincinnati
                                6. Wichita State

                                Projected Starting 5:
                                G Alterique Gilbert
                                G Tyson Etienne
                                G Dexter Dennis
                                F Trey Wade
                                C Morris Udeze

                                Key Losses:
Jamarius Burton, Erik Stevenson, Jaime Echenique, Asbjorn Midtgaard, Grant Sherfield, Noah Fernandes

                                Key Newcomers:
Alterique Gilbert (UConn), Ricky Council, Clarence Jackson (JUCO), Craig Porter (JUCO), Trevin Wade (JUCO), Chaunce Jenkins, Jaden Seymour

                                Sit Out Transfers:
                                None

                                Projected Bench:
Isaiah Poor Bear-Chandler, Ricky Council, Clarence Jackson, Trevin Wade, Josaphat Bilau, Chaunce Jenkins, Jaden Seymour

                                The Skinny:
A mass exodus saw three of the Shockers’ top six scorers from last season — Stevenson, Burton, and Sherfield — transfer during the spring. That doesn’t mean that Wichita State is closing up shop. If Dennis withdraws from the 2020 NBA Draft and returns to school, Gregg Marshall will still have enough reinforcements to make the Shockers competitive in 20-21.

                                7. Tulsa
                                8. UCF
                                9. East Carolina
                                10. Temple
                                11. Tulane..."
