Also where you live is irrelevant to judging a coach at this level. Their histories and experience are all pretty well known
Thanks for clarifying the difference between you and me regards planning for the future. You follow a reactive strategy while I choose to be proactive.

Could not agree with you more regards "...where you live is irrelevant to judging a coach at this level. Their histories and experience are all pretty well known" I was just trying to enlighten those on the board who might be uninformed regards Bob Richey as I may have more knowledge than some Shockernetters.

    • Amazing that nobody has seen the light on Bob Richey and plucked him up yet. Must be a hidden gem with schools not valuing press conferences enough.
      Deuces Valley.
      ... No really, deuces.

This type of response is common for you; a negative remark about a subject on which you are ill informed. Hang in there Fever in a few years you too may learn something about Bob Richey.

You proactively are advocating helping one of the most successful coaches in WSUs history to retire.

My reactive strategy is that in 5-10 years when he decides to retire or leave after many more successful seasons we can take our pick of available coaches from all but about 10-15 schools. So that seems like a better idea

Didn’t you just whine about somebody not responding with a reasonable opinion with another reasonable response?

You provided nothing countering my response other than a hypocritical deflection.

If we did a poll on this board right now, how well informed do you think most posters would rate you?

I am proactively advocating WSU prepare for Marshall's stated intent to retire. I do not harbor any confidence that my posts on this board will influence Marshall in any fashion.

Would you care to identify those 10-15 schools?

                • Oh for f#%k$ sake, I was hoping the “3G Must Go” diatribe was over on the Grant Sherfield thread. I truly appreciate all of my fellow Shocker Netters but this is just plain silly. That 24 point comeback doesn’t happen because Tyson Etienne tells his teammates “we’re only 8 three-pointers away”. There’s some serious coaching going on here my friends, whether you want to admit it or not. 3G has the greatest collection of talented young men he’s ever had. One of the youngest teams in Div I. No matter how humble Shocker recruits may be, these guys still have egos. I’m seriously impressed with how well HC Marshall has been able to build these guys into winners. The Shox are on the verge of a 25 win season. I want a national title more than anything but you know how difficult that is? I’m pretty damn satisfied with the direction this program is headed. I would have loved to have won those those close games last month, that’s for sure.

I’m fan of Marshall, sorry if that offends you guys.

The 10-15 that pay more than WSU right now

IMO nothing hypocritical about my reply to you. You offered nothing so I gave you nothing.

A fact you might want to consider is to compare what Richey has done in three years at Furman with what Marshall did in his first three years at Winthrop. IMO a nice parallel for WSU to evaluate; especially as I do not share Stickboy's confidence that WSU will have its pick of 340 D1 coaches when Marshall steps down.

Ok, I’ll type slower this time so you can come up with something better than the continual deflecting:

How come another bigger school hasn’t come calling on St. Bobby yet?

In your mind money will be the deciding factor? The fact that Marshall turned down $4 million from Alabama support you're thinking? Review the attached link; the information contained there is informative. Some of those P5 coaches are IMO unlikely to be interested in interviewing for the head coach position at WSU..

Check out how much some of the top basketball coaches in the college game get paid and how it compares to everyone else in their conference and the NCAA.

                            Most coaches are money driven.

But I guess you are right. We can't compete with the big boys. Better tuck our tail and wait for the scraps. Let's find that hidden candidate.

I don't know if Richey as been contacted by a bigger school and neither do you? What I do know is that in three years at Furman he has achieved a record superior to Marshall's first three years at Winthrop. I also know that he loves living in South Carolina, so money may not be a driver for him unlike other posters think.

Now why don't you post something informative or factual; rather than continuing with drivel.

You are deflecting; in my work life I learned to be proactive when planning for continued success. Hiring rising stars with a strong loyalty trait is IMO the path to follow.
