Enjoyed the game last night and look forward to next year's game @ IBA. All you Grinches that thought you could stop Christmas, come on down to Whoville and embrace this once a year event. The coach wants it, the players enjoy it, those that can't do season tickets have an opportunity for good seats and its our best opportunity to draw marquee teams. We'll now go back to our Koch routine, which is like no other, and enjoy the rest of the season. We have a long way to go and a lot of work to do.
Where oh where is our T. Boone Pickens.

I agree. We got letters, we got phone calls, we got emails. They did about everything they could other than come out to our house personally and hold our hands.

The only thing I think that was done wrong was the over pricing of the tickets and that was really the promoters fault and not WSU. And even that problem was mostly corrected with the couponing that was done the last couple of weeks.

I liked the way they allowed the season ticket holders to choose their own seats before everyone else had a chance to buy tickets (and those who didn't realize they could do this, just aren't paying enough attention to something that they obviously invest a lot of time and money into each year).

Another thing not mentioned (unless I missed it)....in today's world, remember the corporations buy a LOT of tickets....and a lot of good tickets and I wonder how many of them ignored, chose not to buy, forgot or just didn't want to add an additional expense?

It's a little different, especially on the emotional level of support, when it's a company versus an individual.

Probably a significant number are ignored. Same thing happens with NIT tickets.

On kgso this morning the guy that covers k-s-u was practicaly begging then threatening the ksu throngs that live in and around Wichita to buy tickets for the ksu vs wvu game. He said hcfm is loyal to those that support him and his program and if it didn't sell well then they would not be back. I'm sure he wasn't being a shill for frank but I thought it was humorous he would take that angle to try and get people to the game.

The humor/sadness here is that both WSU and KSU could have made a hefty fee, sold out the arena with with no discounts, made a promoter some good coin, pleased two alumni bases and made a mint for downtown establishments in a head to head matchup. The excuses-from both parties-are petty at best.

+1000 (except I'm not sure WSU had any culpability in this)

Which "guy"? Last I heard the game is nearly sold out - the only tickets available when I looked yesterday were upper deck behind the basket. I have not heard how student ticket sales are going and with sections 110/109 reserved for them that will affect the overall crowd quite a bit.

The WSU situation is much like what happened to us at the Sprint Center. The first time we played there the game was part of the season package and it sold out at 18K. That was the year of Beasley. The next year the game was separate from the season package and the attendance was much, much less. The AD did not promote the game well and it5 was, like the WSU game last week, on an unfavorable date. Our AD learned a lesson and has done a much better job of promoting these type games since and attendance has been very good. I'm sure your AD will handle future Intrust games much better. WSU basketball is just too hot of a ticket in Wichita to not be successful with an Intrust game.

Well said BOBB. Had to rep you for these sentiments although what are our excuses? I would think we would take that game in a heart beat even if we had to promise a return game at Bramlage, although I may be mistaken about that. In any case, it really is unfortunate that this is not happening.

The rumor was that 3 games were offered. Intrust, Sprint and Bramlage. I have no idea what happened to nix it.

I suppose since it was only a rumor it's possible that was never actually on the table. I would have no problem with that deal preferably with the Sprint game on a Friday evening, anytime Saturday or mid-day Sunday to give Wichita fans the best opportunity to attend. I would think in addition to a great crowd that such a game would draw some interest also for the TV folks.
