I don't know what else the AD could do.

I do not have season tickets and I live two hours away and I knew this was not part of the season ticket package.

I'm sure there exists multiple reasons why some fans can't attend the game. However, shame on those fans who are not attending to "make a point." The "point" you're making is counter productive to establishing multiple options, scheduling future games at the larger arena, and most importantly--- supporting the players. Please rethink your position.

What is really bothering me about this whole thing is the idea that people are "boycotting" the game. Seriously? Is there some grand moral principal to stand on. I love basketball and the Shockers immensely. I took a road trip to freaking Iowa State when we made the NIT with Burns and Howard. But it's just basketball game. Perhaps all the people occupying Wall Street or Boston or McDonald's make some feel like they need to protest these days, but it's absolutely pointless. The only thing it does is hurt the basketball team in the long run. The players feel isolated, the coach gets frustrated (considering how well he is doing coaching / recruiting, is that how some fans want him to feel?), and the promoter is losing money. What does that mean? It means no future Gonzaga or Georgetown or Mississippi State or Duke or even UAB. Maybe we'll get lucky and we have a promoter who sees beyond the cloud of fog created by this fiasco, but the fact that some of our own SASO members are turning against their team and school on some sort of "principle" is ignorant and arrogant.

In terms of the actual setup, there are certain things we got completely right and completely wrong. Here's a brief list.
        1) This is the PERFECT way to set up the game. It's independent of season tickets so you are guaranteed to fill the seats you sell, and avoids trying to shoehorn the people in circular Koch into rectangular IBA. It allowed season ticket holders first chance at the tickets, as a way of recognizing them for their loyalty. This is something the university and promoter got absolutely right.
        2) This was marketed all wrong. All the advertisements came out late after deep discounting was going on. The marketing push needs to be when tickets go on SALE. And if the team doesn't have as much name recognition (even though UAB has been quality over the last decade), then the ads need to focus on the opponent's accomplishments to highlight how big time the game could be.
        3) It would be nicer if they found a team with a bit more regional appeal. Even if we bank on all the season ticket holders showing up, we still need to entice 6k more people to show up. Hopefully we will get the chance.
        4) It was STUPID to put the game the day after thanksgiving. I guess it does give some people the chance to bring family members, but many others will be leaving the area for the holiday.
        5) The price was initially all wrong. Perhaps the promoter is using this as a pricing gauge, but the cost of tickets needed to be about $15-20 lower initially. Combine that with a big marketing push at the beginning, and we get a good turnout.

            I predict 12,000.

There were only 11,000 in the Sprint Center the other night that witnessed Mizzou dismantle Cal.

I'm gonna flip this conversation on its head a bit. Think about this if you are an entrepreneur: WSU is was able to get 10k to 12k to a neutral game against UAB. If you are a promoter involved with the lower tier "auto-sellouts" like Memphis, Lousiville, or Gonzaga ... you should be salivating.

This game against UAB with 10k plus is a raving success in terms of drawing a big name because they know they can get at least 10k people there and will be able to charge "their" rate.

Anybody thinking this has to sell-out to be a success just isnt thinking like a business man. It really only needs to prove that the risk in bringing in a big name is very, very low compared with alternatives and 10k+ fans does that handily, doesnt it?

What will be interesting is how many people have held off buying tickets because they weren't sure what their holiday plans would look like.

Edit: after reading more of the posts I just read WuDrWu's post and now realize he has said essentially the same thing. I shoulda just +1'd him, LOL

Also, unlike the topic title, I don't give a carp[sic] what turnout KSU gets, whether they win their game, whether they ever play here again (unless against us), or what any of their fans think. I just don't care.

Shocking yes but Fever pretty much summed up and closed down the thread. If youre not going to the game to "prove a point" then youre a moron.

Wow. You go girl! If you like the shocks go to the game. At dinner today I found out several of my nieces and nephews were going. They can't afford season tickets but were taking advantage of this opportunity to their support.

All I want to know at this point is whether the bar in Intrust will be open before the game, and, if so, how long before.

I don't really care who is or isn't going to the game. I'm not them, they're not me, and it's all probably better that way.

Where is their board? Im sure its posted somewhere on this fabulous website, but since you mentioned it, it would be nice to have a link.

Also I to could care less how many KSU tickets are sold, and to tell you the truth I hope it sells out just like almost every event should including the Shockers!

I was in town a few weeks back and took some family to a thunder game and most of them had never been but grumbled at the thought because they have heard bad stories about the arena...lol well I proved them wrong. They arent as small minded as the people that told them the "horror" stories.
