Going into Conference Play

Well we have watched or heard WSU play its non conference schedule. Certainly a lot of things have came out rather differently from predictions (SIU is tied for the lowest OOC record, Drake is 9-1, etc.). So its time for a reassessment. What order would you put the Valley now? Here is mine:

Creighton
Wichita State
Drake
Northern Iowa
MSU
SIU
Bradley
Illinois State
Indiana State
Evansville

How strong is Drake?

Is that 9-1 for real, or did they get lucky too many times against Directional Tech?

Ask this again after Drake and I might have a guess for you. SIU certainly doesn't look scary this year, Northern Iowa may sneak away with the regular season title....

...but I'd hate to play us in St. Louis.

My guess is that we'll know what it all is after the Drake game....

I think we'll be better prepared to play Drake this year with all the full-court pressure and zone that we've seen.

We'll know a lot more about the Valley after we play Drake.

They also have a 'good' win versus Duquesne.

Come on guys they are Drake.....#### them, they're Drake. If Drake wins this league then more power to them, but at this point they're still Drake.

Wichita State can win this league easy if we play like these last two games. Pretty much what I expected......struggle a bit in non-con, then throw the switch.

We're getting our shat together now as evidence by the last two games. EVERY single game WSU is getting better, our new roster, our new coach....seriously, the Valley wants none of this. We have a VERY good shot of drinkin beers on a March afternoon on a Thrusday watchin our Shox in a tourney. I've posted in various threads that I'm a glass is half empty guy, but the glass is starting to fill up, with delicious 2% strawberry milk.

And I have a feeling we're going to taste it.......

I really hope this is the case, and the seniors know what Valley play is going to be like, but we always have a little swoon in Valley play, and usually in games that should be gimmies (see also: Indiana State).

Then again, Mantas is finding his groove, and apparently Ramon doesn't take a day off, and Gal's basketball IQ seems to be increasing measureably from one game to the next.

I really like our chances for post-season play, I don't think a Marshall team will hit a slump like we had last year; I think the team's mental toughness alone will keep that from happening.

Thank goodness then. I guess I can quit praying we get the rebound and resume praying that the three goes in....
