You like attending live sporting events and I don't, it really shouldn't be a big deal. IMO, this is some of the hyper sensitive toxic fan behavior that the OP was calling out.
I also don't understand the KU fan stuff, I am a WSU alum and donor. I have never watched a KU sporting event live or on TV. Some Shocker fans are wayyyyyy too serious about what is in reality nothing more than a bunch of young men playing a game.
1. Your misuse of pronouns and referring to Wichita State or its fans in the third person raises suspicions.
2. This is a WSU diehard fan site. To expect to see a lot of the corporate, wine, cheese, sit back and enjoy crowd is probably not unrealistic and the responses shouldn’t be too surprising.
3. You joined the site nearly 3 years ago and all of your posts have amounted to your preference of being close to a bathroom and nothing about the actual performance on the court.Deuces Valley.
... No really, deuces.

Football actually, but you were just going for the snarky insult anyway. I guess some people just can't respect different opinions. The irony is that some posters are doing a great job of proving the OP's point in real time.

2) You called out behavior that I participate in and describe this as toxic. Perhaps THIS is insulting.
3) I don't understand why YOU posted on this board under this topic. Surely you understood, if you have read ANY other subject posts, that your comments would generate replies that may be...strong.
IMO (since you like that buffer) YOU are not a fan but more of an observer. Fan means fanatic, which you seem to deplore as toxic. If this is insulting, sorry. May I suggest you find another forum. This one's for fans.

1. I don't do the "We" thing, I merely watch the games. I don't quite get the sports fans that talk about the team as if they are a part of it.
2. Agreed
3. See your point #2, I posted about something that I thought was completely subjective and only a discussion about personal experiences. I don't consider myself a basketball expert at all, I joined this forum mostly to read and learn. I knew better than to dip my toe into the actual game threads.
I was surprised at the extreme reaction from some members though. I only said that some Shocker fans take things too far and that I preferred to watch the games at home. In return, I was insulted, labeled a KU fan and some posters implied that I am either lying about being a WSU fan or that I am another poster they have had issues with in the past. I didn't realize this was a private club for "true fans" whatever the eff that means.

I'm guessing he tries to play 'neutral' when it comes to KU/WSU banter, but he doesn't hide his love for the St. Louis Cardinals... he can do that without much local backlash. I've always enjoyed Bob; his 'League 42' is something to get behind.
His constant berating of WSU's competition over the last several years, along with how boring it can be going to a home game just got a little tiresome. Ho-hum... You know, the steady beat of "yeah, but we just don't know how good they really are." I'm not a fan. If others are that's quite alright.
How come he doesn't do the call-in show after the games any more? Hadn't he and his son hosted the show over the last several years?
Too bad he walked away from the morning show just days before WSU participated in their biggest game in 50 years, the Final 4. He could have joined in the celebration with all of the fans, over the airwaves...Last edited by ShockingButTrue; December 11, 2019, 04:34 PM.

No doubt there is a relatively very small number of toxic Shocker fans in our fan base. Okay, that makes Shocker Nation similar to a great majority of other fan bases in the country. Projecting the behavior of a very small number of Shocker fans across the entire fan base shows you are not particularly the sharpest tool in the shed. While I can't prove it one way or the other my guess is the small % of the Shocker fan base that is toxic is probably well below the national average.
