Toure has probably had more touches than many other players, but no one counts touches in basketball. If TM has 100 turnovers on 1,000 passing attempts and another player has 80 turnovers on 600 passing attempts, does that mean Toure is worse at handling the ball?
    Hmmm... definitely thought provoking.

I wanna go on record for sayin I got a feelin we are gonna see something very special in terms of stats out of Toure this year.

I also think Toure is a play maker that takes risks and because of that gets a nice extra dose of turnovers. Kemba Walker and Toure had very similar stats as Sophomores. Toure had to play the one last year and Kemba got to have the offense run around him. If Toure gets to be in his natural position, watch out!

looks like our team looked to shockernet for some advice this past weekend...apparently assist is a dirty word (it's ***ist in Sub's original post)...

That makes more sense than just about anything else. This team seems to treat assists like it's a golf score... I think that's a BIG reason why we looked so poorly in Puerto Rico. The sooner this team starts passing the ball better and looking for others, the sooner we start looking and playing like an NCAA team

That aside, does anybody know where he ranks among the Most Turnovers in Shocker history? He has led the team in that category in each year, 94, 74, and 99 respectively. And last year, the person who came in 2nd had less than half that. He's done a lot of good for the team, but also he has some glaring marks. I think it's only fair that you look at both when evaluating an individual and I think a lot of people simply don't do that. It's a great if you're doing good in one area, but if you're doing equally bad in another area, doesn't that almost cancel something out?

Let's not act like there's a reason some people question some things about players. It's not like I or anybody else does it out of thin air.

Let's hope those numbers improve by a lot in his senior year and hopefully that's a category he doesn't lead all 4 years of his playing time here.
Why are you so hell bent on pissing on TM and his accomplishments as a shocker? Is it your job to negate every good comment with a negative. You are starting to look petty and jealous, just so you know.

I think TM is a bit of an anomaly. No doubt he can be frustrating at times, but also very successful. He probably takes more 3s than he should and takes some when he certainly shouldn't, but it's not because he's selfish. He'll probably go down as one of the best non-PG assist players in Shocker history, not just because he has been a 4 year player, but year in and year out. He also plays hard on D and gets lots of steals. I, too, jumped out of my seat twice near the end of regulation during the Temple game yelling "how could he just throw that ball away, how could he take that 3 and so soon in the shot clock". Then I looked at the play-by-play over the last 5 minutes and noticed that he made his only other FG shot, scored 3 pts and had 4 assists. So during that time, he ended up shooting 50% from the field and had a 2 to 1 assist to TO ratio.

One thing is for sure. TM is not afraid to have the ball in his hands at important times. Even if it means learning a new position, with high responsibility, on the fly like PG. Maybe he spoiled us with his freshman heroics, but he is does so many things on the floor and off, I just need to remember that the next time he isn't so near perfect.

Not sure what happened to the WSU all time records thread but I was curious where Murry is on the all-time assists. He's had 15 in the last 2 games and is on pace to break the record this year.

Toure started the year with 319 and I believe that after last night, he is at 343. The record held by Warren (Armstrong) Jabali is 429. With another 86 needed, Toure will certainly have to average at least 3 per game depending on how far the team gets in post season. He is averaging over 3 thus far in spite of a slow start while he battled the bruised ribs.

One thing to remember though is that Warren got his when freshmen were not eligible, so he only had 3 years in which to accomplish it. Also, he spent a lot of his time playing inside in spite of being only 6'2".

doesn't diminsh the fact that Toure Murry, playing the 2 and 3 spot for 90% of his career, is pretty darn special.

I certainly agree. Toure's one of my all time favorites, as was Warren. Two really great Shockers.
