Scouting reports say "plows out" and the roads are improving as we speak.

We did make it to the game. But in retrospect it was a dumb decision. Live and learn.

K96 was fine right up until Maize. It had been blowing but the roads were clear. Then at Maize road it was like someone flipped the switch and it became mostly snowpacked. By the curve west of the Ridge Rd. exit it was fully snowpacked. A car right in front of us caught a drift and it pulled them right up against a bridge guard rail. It was slow going and I-135 was backed up from just north of 21st St. south to who knows where. We were lucky enough to get off on 21st without waiting too long.

Good thing my wife's family is in Wichita! And that they let me use their computer!

Royal, how early were you at the game? We drove from S Wichita to Riverside to Val Center to I-135 to 21st to CKA and the roads were a-okay.

We were getting into Wichita a little before 4pm. So the winds were still high and the snow plows hadn't hit our side of K96 yet. And in a 2WD vehicle, those conditions are pretty dicey. Once we got onto 21st St it wasn't too bad, but only because traffic had kept the snow from piling up too much. When we got to my mother-in-law's near 29th and Woodlawn, I wasn't sure we'd get through the side-streets, especially if we had to stop.

Basically, we got into town at one of the worst times. Had it been an hour later, it wouldn't have been quite so bad.

Had a game with my wife, counted 46 struck/stranded vehicles from about 119th to CKA.

I'm going to assume that as long as I can get out of the driveway today that I should have no problems getting to church. I'd hate to be someones tally today by ending up in a ditch.

My Father and I did okay.. it was a slow go (20mph or so) most of the way but we made it about 4:45pm and just took it easy for the next 3 hours. It was nice to see so many fans made it out to the game.

I got stuck today. But that was trying to get back into my driveway. The roads were pretty good for the most part today. It's getting a little slushy out there now though. I liked the drive into church better than the one from church.

I was quite impressed with the number of fans that made it out last night.
