Great logic here. Your opponents’ NETs are more important than your own.

MAJOR flaw to the system that should be called out on.

    • Texas Tech is 10-13 in combined Q1,2,3 games. WSU is 15-8 with the same metric! On their recent podcast Matt Norlander and Gary Parrish were high skeptical that Tex Tech would get in using those metrics and were really questioning Lunardi.

      • ETSU down 24-19 at the under 8 and looking all out of sorts. ESPN.

Unfortunately nobody is looking beyond Q1 records!

Obviously that isn’t correct. Somebody is.

He’s so good, he found a way to be an AQ without winning the conference tournament!

                  • Gregg was very pleased with that result, for all reasons.

                    • Was stated last night on one of the games that 15 of the top 16 in NET made the sweet 16 last year...must be somewhat reliable.

For the most part, the tournament was close to chalk last year...at least in the early rounds. In 2018 though, it was most definitely not.

I think if that holds true for multiple years it has some credence. Right now there is a small sample size.

                          • Posted this in the other thread, but this could have implications for potential bid thieves if other conferences cancel tournaments.

Main opportunities for bid thieves or for teams to play themselves into (or out of) the tournament:
                            A-10: Richmond, Rhode Island
                            AAC: Memphis, UConn
                            ACC: NC State
                            Big 12: Texas, Texas Tech
                            Big East: Providence, Xavier
                            Big Ten: Purdue, Indiana
Pac 12: UCLA, Stanford, Arizona State
                            SEC: Mississippi State, Tennessee, Arkansas

Basically, we need to root against all of these teams. If two of them play each other, we need to root for the team that wins to lose its next game.

I do believe it's best for us to play Tulane, because it would be more likely to give us a shot at Cincy.

                            • UConn or Tulane doesn't matter. They play on Thursday. If we can't beat them, how can we beat Cincy?

                              • I think if we make Sunday we are in no matter who we play, even if we have faced Tulane and USF or UCF. Slam dunk if we beat Cincy in the semis.

Just because we should be able to beat both teams it still matters who we play. I'd guess we beat Tulane 90% of the time and UCONN 65%. I'll take the better odds.
