There's supposed to be some kind of rule that two teams can't play each other in the first round in back to back years. Some people were speculating that the committee accidentally swapped Michigan and Michigan State, which kinda makes some sense when you look at the bracket. The Spartans have to be the #1 2 seed but somehow they ended up in Duke's region. Not sure if that's actually what happened, but it is quite weird

I'm not sure about that, sounds like it could have been a screw up. I also thought there was a rule that teams from the same conference couldn't be placed in a position where they could meet before the Elite Eight. Yet we have Minnesota-Michigan State tomorrow in the 2nd round
