This is probably what we get for going 1-2 in the latest "Thanksgiving" tournament...

Given all the new faces on the court for the Shocks next year, this tourney could be just what we need. It will give the staff a chance to put a number of players into the fire, give them time to work together in real game situations, and, hopefully, build confidence.

Iowa will be pretty good next year- top 75, maybe 50. I like having them in the field.

DePaul is fine also. Oliver Purnell is retrieving that program from the abyss in impressive fashion. I expect them to be top 100ish next season.

Having WKU be the 4th premier team is the killer. They suck. And they will also have a new coach next season. It looks almost certain that they will be our semi-final opponent since we are going to have easily the best season (this year) out of the 'marquee' teams.

That means 3 RPI 200+ opponents, and one with an RPI in the top 100 (hopefully). Sucks. Bigtime.

This means that next year's tournament will provide no SoS bump whatsoever- I hope the staff is prepared to take a 1 and done road game against a top program to balance it out.

The positive is our cream puff opponents are set. Staff can now work on getting quality games.

My enthusiasm to make the Cancun trip in November has fallen quite a bit now

                        Gardner-Webb completes the field.

Our side of the bracket has Iowa, DePaul, and Western Kentucky. We get two decent games. The championship game should be "interesting". The other side of the bracket has Gardner-Webb, Howard, Austin Peay, and Western Carolina.
The future's so bright - I gotta wear shades.
We like to cut down nets and get sized for championship rings.

That's not how it works Aargh. We will play two teams at home before we go to Cancun. The two home games will be against either Gardner-Webb, Howard, Austin Peay or Western Carolina. Once in Cancun we will only play two games with DePaul, Western Kentucky and Iowa being our only possible opponents in Cancun.

That's not quite how it works out Aargh. The "Other" division are the schools that will travel to our side for games before we head to Cancun where we'll play 2 of Iowa, DePaul and WKU.
