I think I like Bardo. He seems to be the best out of the bunch. If he can grow our university like he did WCU I will be very happy. We seriously need to increase our enrollment which has stagnated long ago. Let's get WSU north of 20k and then bring on the football team.

Growing the U should be a big focus. I'd say if he could grow WSU to 17-18k without football, it'd be a stronger bet to bring it back and put us over 20k. I haven't paid attention to how much student fees go to athletics, but adding 2-3k would be a nice little boost. Get to 20k and it looks a lot better. And with the right leadership and planning we'd still get a lot of help from local businesses to do it. Vision is all it takes.

He expanded the stadium at WCU and added some minor sports. I'm all for him reaching out and growing the student enrollment and adding women's soccer and maybe even swimming and diving in preparation for football.

And not to mention that last year there seemed to be plenty of student support for bringing back football according to the student government or whoever was behind it. Grow the students and potentially even up the fees a little if need be. It could work.

Hey, adding soccer wouldn't be a bad idea at all. It's a rising sport, and it would give Cessna something to host other than an occassional track and field meet.

I have no problem with soccer as long as it's for the women. There should only be one male sport added at WSU and it involves flying pig skin.

Want my two-cents? The final candidates were, underwhelming. IMO, the powers at be selected this seasoned veteran knowing he's got 3 - 5 years with the university tops. He won't ruffle any feathers or rock-the-boat. When he retires in 4 years, it will be a relatively short term for the university and they can then again go out and try to find that WOW factor of a president.

Hopefully, our next search will yield a forward thinking, non-conservative and dynamic individual who wants WSU to rise above its tier 2 university status (according to US News and World Report) as well as support the most influential and best advertising platform for the university - the athletics department.

I agree he should be a safe hire to replace Beggs. He raised money, built buildings and grew the student body at WCU.
