Actually, Ta, Royal's comment wasn't there yet at the time I dashed off a quick response. But his point is well taken, as is pogo's about Warren Armstrong. Not all presidents are created equal or care about athletics to the extent we've seen from Beggs, who has definitely been a friend to WSU sports.
And in any case, don't hold your breath about football.

Thank you, Dr. Beggs, for your service, dedication and enthusiasm for
WSU and WSU athletics. May God bless you and Mrs. Beggs wherever your future may be."I not sure that I've ever been around a more competitive player or young man than Fred VanVleet. I like to win more than 99.9% of the people in this world, but he may top me." -- Gregg Marshall 12/23/13 :peaceful:

Remember when Nancy Pelosi said about Obamacare:
"We have to pass it, to find out what's in it".
A physician called into a radio show and said:
"That's the definition of a stool sample."

Dr. Beggs has been very good for WSU as a whole.
Having 3 academically-oriented children reach college age during his tenure and watching the maturation of the WSU recruitment process, I am certain WSU is a better university as a direct result of Dr. Beggs tenure as President. People from the bottom to the top at WSU now believe in the programs at the university and many programs have grown prominently.
Additionally, Dr. Beggs has been one of the most accessible university presidents I have seen. He and Shirley are such great ambassadors for WSU they will be difficult to replace.
I hope the Regents allow Dr. Beggs to provide input to the selection process as I respect him as a man and an administrator.

I have mixed feeling about Dr. Beggs. Some very positive and some questions.
The enrollment at WSU has been flat during his tenure. That is a concern.
I also think that WSU is still searching for what it can be and what it wants to be.
I do like that he handled the state budget downturn so much more professionally then his peers at the other state Universities. Remember Wefald said that K-State would cease to exist as we know it if the budget cuts went through. Well, they went through.
Warren Armstrong did many good things for WSU on the academic side. He stood up to the bullies at KU and KSU and the Regents and is the primary reason that WSU has the number of PhD programs that it has.

I noticed that the search for the Provost will cease until a new president is appointed. The former Provost, Dr. Gary Miller, and now president of UNC Wilmington, would be a great hire. He is a VERY intelligent man and did a great job on the academic side of WSU.

Don't worry too much about it. Just do all you can do and let the rough end drag.

Now, let's increase enrollment and bring back football!

Frankly this has huge consequences because the successor will lead on picking an AD which could choose Marshall's replacement if Sexton moves on before Marshall.
If WSU wants to stay strong and "go Butler" we will need three awesome bball hires in a row.Kung Wu say, man who read woman like book, prefer braille!
