Shocks vs UAB Ticket Prices

17 dollars to attend your "favorite" bball teams game at IBA is a tremendous value. I would pay that in a heartbeat.
Last year I was dying to attend some Blackhawks games here in Chicago. Seats were a little out of my range, I ended up shelling out 25 bucks for standing room only tickets. At the top of the United Center. Still had a blast.

I have 2 $47 tix (+svc charges). I'll be excited to go to the game. I still fail to realize how UAB @ IBA is any more "big time" than UAB @ Koch. The Koch atmosphere is comparable with any in the country. UAB's last experience at Koch was an upset loss during a blizzard. Maybe that's why they'd rather play at IBA.
I don't get it. F you guys have actual #'s as to how the 3rd party pays more than WSU hosting the game, then post them.
I'm always favored the existence of IBA.

I hate to barge into a Shocker specific topic, but this has gone on way too long. The bottom line is this, if you want to go and can afford to do so, go, if you can't budget the game, don't go. The ticket prices are pretty standard for a third party game and yes, they are priced accordingly. With or without a handful of fans that can't afford this game, it will still do very well.
As for service fees, this is the standard. Like it or not, it is the world we live in today. I pay about the same for events held at the Qwest Center, errrrr, Century Link Center. I've paid about the same for events at the Sprint Center and the Pepsi Center as well. These are normal fees, like it or not.
If only 13,000 fans show up, the event will make money and keep promoters interested in taking similar risks in the future. Also, even if the event doesn't sell out, I can guarantee you that you will have more fans at that game than any other Valley teams pull for any game all year except for Creighton. In fact, when Nebraska rented the Qwest Center a few years back, they only drew 11,000. That number might have been inflated as well.
I guess what I'm trying to say is this, your fan base will show up, maybe with the higher ticket prices it won't sell out, but at the same time, it will be a better showing than most schools across the country bring to these "neutral" site games. That does not include the Kentucky's and Kansas's of the world, but you guys will do as good as any other "BCS" name that isn't a perennial top dog.
With that, this game is just like many other college games put together by outside promoters, and the higher prices are simply the byproduct of that type of game. Wichita State is fortunate enough to have a fan base big and strong enough to be considered for such an event, so you should be proud.
If you can't afford the game, like I said earlier, don't go, but in my opinion, complaining about the prices on this forum doesn't help anything. There are three rules that I live by: never get less than twelve hours sleep; never play cards with a guy who has the same first name as a city; and never get involved with a woman with a tattoo of a dagger on her body. Now you stick to that, and everything else is cream cheese.

At Koch the game would sell out, there would be more people than most if not all UAB games played. At least on the road. So does someone feel more bigtime just because WSU gets to play the promoter game?
IBA is not a dump. its just not necessary or an improvement to play there,Phi Alpha

This year, both teams are getting paid to play at Intrust Bank Arena. Everyone would rather it be a West Virginia, K-State, etc. But no one will pony up the money to have a Florida come to IBA, or UCLA to come to IBA unless they know they will make money.
How do we convince them to put up the dough?
FILL IBA for U frickin AB. It's not a big-time, BCS opponent. But lets not knock a team that has come to Wichita to play Wichita State twice in Coach Marshall's tenure here.
