  • I'll add that I'm glad the arena is there. Its just useless for Shocker basketball. I might be redundant but I have ignored this thread until I bought tickets. I wanted to vote with my wallet & skip the game. But in the end I'm going & I'm getting my grandpa there, just like I always do.

You kinda answered the "spoiled" question in your last couple of lines. The atmosphere sucks at IBA compared to Koch. You're spoiled to Koch's atmosphere and therefore think IBA should be similar. The scoreboard sucks at IBA compared to Koch. Again, the spoils of Koch. The "big time arena" part comes with the upper level seating concept. Every "big time venue" has multiple levels with more nosebleed seats than you could ever imagine compared to IBA.

I don't get the "would've been $119 last year" and "they sucked"? How did you know they sucked? It sounds like you had a chance to get them but didn't? I don't recall a price that high for last year's tickets.

I just can't see a positive attribute for WSU playing at IBA. There's beer, but I can wait til after the game. Its more fun to drunkenly spout off after a game.
There is accessible seating available to those who need it. If you were unable to get the seating for whatever reason, they can be made available to you. And it is offered in all price levels based on availability. There are upper level accessible seating areas as well. A large portion of the patrons use those areas and actually request for it over other lower level areas. Old Town will be pretty buzzing that Friday night after the game. It should be a good ambiance.

As for the positives for WSU, well, as it has been explained a thousand times before, they already got theirs. They're playing a neutral game put together by a THIRD PARTY promoter in their HOMETOWN. They already got a check for the game. It was a no-brainer to anybody that is coherent.

Again, the "spoiled" thing. Who said IBA would ever be like Koch? Who said it would sell out or be as loud as it? You just made my point again. Judging by our spoiled fanbase, you're right about it not selling out. In fact, depending on the way things go, it may not even make half-house. I blame that partly for the inflated ticket prices, but mostly on the inflated egotistical portion of our fanbase.

With all that said, I'm glad you're able to attend and root the Shocks on in your hometown. They will thank you.

        • I did sit in the seats. If I sat in last year's seats again, the price was $119 each. The view wasn't that great.

The select a seat rep told me that there were accessible seats in each price range, but he was completely unable to tell me what was available. I had the seating arrangement in front of me.

It appears that loyal fans are inconvenienced to go to a lesser "big time" arena and are paying significantly higher so the middle man can pay WSU.

Oh well it is what it is. I went last year, I've paid for this year. I'll go next year.

We need more fans like you if we want to continue to take steps forward and up the ladder. The best part is we, with IBA, have the opportunity to do this with a less than than 30 minute drive for most people to the arena. Other schools, like Gonzaga, had to do it in Memphis, Tempe, San Antonio, etc.

We are fortunate to be offered this kind of opportunity as a program, and we are dang sure fortunate to have it in our home town.

            • Lets ask it this way, how many would pay $30 and travel to OKC to watch us play OU or OSU in basketball at the Ford Center?

for a $30 ticket, a tank of gas ($60), and a hotel room for the night ($150), i'd do it.

it also makes the $50 ticket here seem pretty cheap.

That was truly amazing to hit 7 in a row in a game where he only made 5!

After looking at that play-by-play I remember that the fourth one he threw up, he was barely touching the line and they called it a 3 pointer but reviewed and changed it after the next stoppage. That would have been his fourth in a row and the place was going crazy by that time.

But he still made 4 three pointers without missing a shot and had another two pointer in there for 5 bombs in a row. Wow, that was just insane.

The Ford Center has upper bowl seats. Better not sit there. Wouldn't want to distort your tunnelvision expectations of Koch.

This statement really proves how effed up you are. You'd pay $30 a ticket, $60 for gas, and possibly a $100 hotel room to go to OKC's arena, but you wouldn't shell out $47 for a lower bowl ticket to IBA, which would save you a ton more money.

What a great, GREAT fan you are.
