Originally posted by Ta townAs far as MSU going, how can you be one of the worst Div 1-AA schools around and hope to compete at 1A. I don't mean that as an insult, but I've always wondered how they seem to suck year in and year out in valley football. Maybe I'm wrong on that and somebody can correct me but I think that is the case.
Avg attendance: 9028 (capacity 16,600)
2009 MSU football record: 6-5
Avg attendance: 9570
2008 MSU football record: 4-7
Looks like they are ready to make the move up to FBS! 8)

Memphis, UTEP, Tulsa and UAB sound like nice opponents. Beating up on Houston would be fun.
I'm surprised that Houston draws so poorly. Still waiting for Southern Miss to figure things out.
Who wants to find the RPIs for this past season and compare? I may here in a little bit after I get a few things taken care of.Infinity Art Glass - Fantastic local artist and Shocker fan
RIP Guy Always A Shocker
Carpenter Place - A blessing to many young girls/women
ICT S.O.S - Great local cause fighting against human trafficking
Wartick Insurance Agency - Saved me money with more coverage.
Save Shocker Sports - A rallying cry

Houston
Sub, Houston doesn't draw for two reasons: (a) it's an NBA town, which means that the local enthusiasm and media attention is mostly sucked up by the Rockets (a phenomenon that applies almost everywhere pro and college sports coexist, by the way), and (b) it's in Texas. which means basketball is an afterthought. I can pretty much guarantee you that good high school football programs draw more in the Houston area than UH basketball does.

Anybody know what the division of money from TV, bowl games, BB post season tournaments is for C-USA members versus MVC members?
Must be significant since we receive no money from football and have of late been a one bid conference for the NCAA.

This would be a dream come true if it happened (longshot I know). We regain the rivalry with Tulsa, keep a decent one with MSU, and join other programs whose administrations generally give a crap about athletics. Not to mention the enormous benefit it would have for baseball.
At least it's something to dream about in the slow months.

At this time, this move is nothing but a rumor, so I may as well throw in one version of the rumor I've run across.
One of the internet comments in the Springfield papers web site indicated that MSU was invited as a NON-FOOTBALL member. It's the off-season. Things are slow. Otherwise I wouldn't mention that variation on the rumor. The future's so bright - I gotta wear shades.
We like to cut down nets and get sized for championship rings.

This "rumor" is quite a mystery to me:
1.) Why would CUSA go to 13 teams?
2.) Why would it want a member to join as a non-football member? What is the benefit to that exactly?
3.) Is the Springfield, Missouri media market really that desirable?
4.) How can a school that has won 1 conference title in its most prominent sport in the last 20 years be that big of a lure to C-USA? And with all of those NCAA appearances (or lack thereof) to boot?
My theory is that the MSU player who tweeted this was busy looking through the MSU message board and came across one of the dozen threads about their obsession and fascination with C-USA and just assumed it was happening and tweeted it.Deuces Valley.
... No really, deuces.
