I always get a little uneasy (or should I say skeptical) going into this time of year because the usual suspects seem to always grab all the 1 and 2 seeds no matter how many losses they have during the season. It's like they simply get a pass due to "name recognition" and I suppose ummm-hmmm TV ratings. But for my peace of mind...I like to do my due diligence in chasing down the NCAA's reasoning for awarding seeds. Obviously...this is Jamar Howard 4 President territory and expertise as he is awesome at explaining all this and perhaps he is formulating a post as we speak. Most of the time...the media "experts" don't make sense to me as it seems slightly propaganda-ish. With that said...and reading Jeff Borzello's quote from a couple hours ago got me thinking..."oh boy...here we go again".

Kansas being No. 6 overall is a clear sign that quadrants are going to be a huge factor this season. Jayhawks are tied for the most Quadrant 1 wins and Quadrant 1 + 2 wins.

Does this revelation help Wichita St. this year as far as seeding? Or does it hurt Wichita St. as far as seeding?

I would think it would help us due to a stronger schedule and such....but...try as I may I can not find a site that shows all Div. I teams that rank "quadrant wins and losses"

Anybody know of such a site? There must be one out there. And/or anybody know what our record is in regards to these "quadrants"?

There are currently 11 teams with 10 or more Quadrant 1+2 wins.
WSU has 9 such wins with a chance for 10th on Sunday.

Temple would have to do some work over their last handful of games to make a Thursday victory be a Q1 win. But they certainly are capable.

We are adding Q1 and Q2, and the Temple game would classify as Q2

Correct. In my mind, I was thinking "home, top 30 = Q1" and totally spaced that I was talking Q1+2, which goes up to 75 for home games.

So yes, opportunity for 2 more such wins this week.

For our last 6 games we have 1 group 3 (Tulane H) 1 group 2 (Temple home), and 4 group 1 (Cincinnati h/a, SMU and UCF away) games.

This can not be overstated enough. This alone proves that whoever says moving to the AAC from the MVC was a bad move for us is full of hot air.

LOC has an rpi of 51 this week. I believe the only other mvc teams in the top 100 are SIU IsuR red. So yeah a much better conference

Moving to the AAC has been the best for us and the whole conference as a whole. In non conference from now on expect to play a whole lot of good teams for sure.

Yes. Kindof snuck up on everyone that wrote off both us and our schedule 2 weeks ago.

For reference, Duke, a team that everyone is sure is a 1 or 2 seed is 10-5 vs Q1 and Q2.

WSU quadrants look like this:

Q1 3-2
Q2 9-2
Q3 5-1
Q4 5-0

Q1 is alright, but no elite. The home loss to Temple hurts. Out of the Top 20 RpI (6 teams have 3 or less wins)
Q2 looks good, but out of the top 20 rpi, only 2 other teams have 2 losses (Purdue and Texas Tech)
Q3 The stain is the home loss to SMU (6 teams in the top 20 have 1 or more losses).
Q4 Is good because there is not that many games and have no losses.

So WSU seems to be in position for at least 4-5 seed. Ceiling at 3 if they take care of business in league and beat Cincy, and have a strong finish in AAC tournament.
