  • Coach must have someone reviewing these threads for him... He said in postgame he would have to address free throws on his next radio program. :) I just hate the thought of our players possibly reading some of the terribly negative comments early on in this thread. In the past no one has expected a shocker team to *peak* even before conference starts but this year it seems to be the case. It's a long season and I know ya all don't want them getting to their best just yet. :)

    • It's these types of games that we didn't get in the MVC. Playing against better athletes will better prepare our guys for the NCAA. It will expose our weakness' and IMHO - make us better.

      • McDuffie did not have a good game, but he needed the court time. He will need more court time the next few games and I'm not expecting anything resembling the McDuffie of last year for at least a couple of weeks.

It takes time to recover from only light use of a leg for 3 months.
The future's so bright - I gotta wear shades.
We like to cut down nets and get sized for championship rings.

I was surprised he didn't get a little more time, but i'm sure there's a good reason. He could be sick or battling some nagging injury for all we know, maybe AM whacked him in the teeth again.

I though we were at our best today when LS, CF, & AR were on the court together.
Its a good landing if you can walk away, its a great landing if the plane can be reused the next day.

          • I don’t think 7 minutes for SHJ is too much.

One of the game keys keys is that We only had 4 second half turnovers. Landry had 4 of our 13 turnovers. This will improve. We gave up several easy baskets off turnovers in the first half.

I felt this has been the case in a number of games this season. Clearly it gives us better spacing as opponents respect all 3 as shooters and though LS and AR still turn it over too much they are much better than any alternatives. I think my favorite play of the game was AR shot fake that the defender bit on and then knocking down the 3, in lieu of trying to penetrate or force a pass after his shot fake. I've been looking for him to do that all season.

              • Happy with the win. Still think it would have been easier if we had played some zone against this team but I'll let that go and say I thought

AR had the best game of his career so far
LS isn't playing to the level most think he is capable of but is still one of the best players on the court every game
This wasn't a game for RN. Many won't be this year but there will be some that are.
MM is a long ways from where he needs to be but headed the right direction

i have been a fan of RK clear back to when many were ready to throw him under the bus but when he blocked the shot, came down with the ball, ran to the other end and tipped in a missed shot, THAT is shocker basketball.

GM is a exceptional at having the right players on the floor at the right time

                • Favorite line of the day---When Coach said that to get to UCONN, the team had to "fly over the entire MVC".

                  • In the scheme of things, I'm still thinking UCONN will win most home games which will help us some. Today was a shot in the Shocks arm to beat a talented team on National TV, on the road, in our initiation into the solid AAC.
Shocker basketball will forever be my favorite team in all of sports.

There is plenty of shine for Kelly when he rebounds this way. He came to Wichita State known for his hustle and rebounding. After three seasons performing well in that role, he is excelling as a senior. He ranks third nationally, according to Ken Pomeroy's statistics, by grabbing 19.2 percent of available offensive rebounds. Last season, he ranked 90th at 12.1.

If he was sick or injured that would be about par for the course this year. OTOH, if that was the case I have not heard or seen any mention of it anywhere which I guess doesn't prove anything.

                        • For all those that are wondering why RN didn't play more go back and watch his ball screen defense over the last few games. (I bet Marshall did) and you will have your answer.

                            • Ramon had been commenting on his twitter for at least a few days if not a week that he was coming to the game and wanted to sit with Shocker Fans.

He is only 1 of 3 current of former players I have seen on or off campus. I remember seeing him in the rhatigan student center and him crushing chick fil a sandwiches lol.

Dude has made an excellent career playing for Puerto Rico and overseas.
