I think your comments about the changing nature of the game are accurate but are much more applicable to the NBA. Perhaps that is coming in college ball but obviously 3G still feels like there is a place for a guy like Asbjorn in his system.

The RS situation with AM and RBrown (it's too late for RBaker to take another redshirt), might be affecting recruiting. With 3 incoming Fr already, if AM and RBrown both took shirts, that would put 5 in the Fr class next year. Hopefully 6, since the need for a Fr PG next year is obvious. That's one big Fr class.
I would think that if both AM and RBrown take shirts, the remainder of the recruiting would focus on JuCo players. Obviously take Lomax or Ramey if possible, but that would be the last HS recruit. I wouldn't be surprised to see Marshall go one over the limit in the Spring signing period.
I think RBrown takes a shirt, but not AM. AM is either going to progress well enough to contribute this year, even if it's only by the February/March time frame, or perhaps there's no real reason to use 5 years of scholarships for 4 years of games. The future's so bright - I gotta wear shades.

For any out here who still think Steve Eck is a great coach, you should have listened to SHJ's post-game chat with Kennedy.
The main difference (per SHJ) between JuCo and D1 is that in D1 you run a lot of plays. They only ran about 2 plays at Hutch last year. Other than that it was just guys creating for themselves. The future's so bright - I gotta wear shades.

I agree that we should not get overly high over 1 exhibition game against a clearly overmatched opponent. In general though the 1st half was outstanding and the 2nd half not nearly as good. But at that point 3G is mixing and matching different players and combos and perhaps that 2nd half drop of was somewhat to be expected. On the other hand it's hard not to bet excited when the Shocks played the way they did in the 1st half with Landry and Markis sitting on the bench.
As far as Austin and Asbjorn are concerned perhaps any criticism should be tempered by the fact that Austin Reaves (foot, illness) and Asbjorn Midtgaard (illness) according to Taylor Eldridge in the Eagle, were both questionable to play, but both played. In addition, how much basketball has Austin actually played since the end of last season between his shoulder surgery and his recent illness. I think they said Austin has mono. Mono can really take the starch out of your shorts.
Seems like we have had a lot of illness this fall. Shaq has reportedly had some illness as well. Really had a negative impact on our Men's XC team as well. Hopefully, we get all that behind us soon. Add that to the Landry and Markis foot injuries and it has been a very frustrating and challenging off-season.

He is not a one on one "ball hog" and clone of Tyrone Taylor imo.
