Coaching Rumors.com: Marshall offered OU job

Going against my own mantra, Coach Kresse told Gregg as recently as last week, to, and I quote, "Coach where you are loved".

Again, fwiw.

Somehow I think Brad Stevens subscribes to that same theory, Doc, and he may soon be playing for the national championship for the second year in a row. How many job hoppers have done that?

Meanwhile, Stevens has a great situation that's probably as low key as one could hope for in a nationally prominent program, job security, more money than he knows what to do with, and he's king with his fans in a place where basketball may be even bigger than it is here. Sometimes a guy just does better to avoid fixing what isn't broken.

FWIW, "Steve" in the Shockwaves chat just said he heard that Marshall signed a contract extension within the last 48 hours.

I heard that he got about a $250,000 bump also. That was from a former WSU athlete who still has some connections. We'll see though....

Former OU player and current OCU coach Terry Evans was interviewed yesterday. Honestly, he would be a good hire for OU, in my opinion.

Rumors are rampant. I have heard all kinds of stuff, including Marshall ain't going nowhere! However, I don't think we will have to wait 'til Monday to know for sure.

One that I have heard now twice from a reliable radio source is 3G to NCSU and Danny Manning in black and yellow. We shall see.

I don't know what I think about that? Truly sad if that happens. That worries me more than a little.

Mike DeCourcey of the Sporting News was on 810 this morning. Marshall came up regarding Mizzou. DeCourcey said Marshall would be a great fit and would most likely take the job if offered and if he was not waiting on NC State.

Marshall's name is coming more and more about Mizzou, but no one has any idea what Mike Alden is doing about a new coach right now...

I did hear 3G say he was going to be at the Final Four on Saturday when MK ask him if he could do a coach's show on Monday.

Hopefully this won't drag on too long.

Yow is in Houston for the Final Four. Virginia Commonwealth coach Shaka Smart, Wichita State coach Gregg Marshall and Cincinnati's Mick Cronin are believed to be among Yow's top targets.

When Sidney Lowe resigned on March 15, Yow said she wanted an experienced college coach who has taken a program to the NCAA tournament. Smart's team plays Butler in the Final Four on Saturday, and Marshall took Winthrop to the NCAA tournament seven times in nine years before jumping to Wichita State in 2007.
