    Nebraska Coach Doc Sadler:

"If you look over the last 30 years or 50 years or whatever, the Wichita fans are probably one of the best fan-bases in the country," he said. "Then you add the fact they've got a very, very good basketball team. It's not going to be an easy task."

Hopefully, Shocker fans will live up to their well-earned rep.

Let's say WSU bid $200,000. Once the NIT gets their guarantee of 200K, the rest goes to WSU. But, WSU has their own expenses to cover. Let's say it's a sell out, and the average ticket price is $23.50. That translates to $246,891. WSU walks away with $46,891. Plus concessions, corporate sponsorhips, video board, halftime glad handing, etc etc. WSU's net isn't as large as some might think.

Baseball Regional bids were the same way. To play the game, you gotta pay.
Do teams still have to bid for home games seeing how they just give it to the higher seeded teams anyway? Just curious, I have no idea on this stuff anymore.
Here's the NIT Manual that sheds some light on the "new" NIT rules.

Teams don't "bid" anymore. NIT takes the ticket sales, with a potential 15% cut to the host team. The host takes all concessions, etc. Then, depending on how many games a school plays, they get a share of the total NIT revenue that's distributed back to the schools.

              $246,891 x 15% = $37,033.65 WSU's take. NIT takes $209,857.35

I was off by $9,857.35. My bad.

I'm just curious what each school is paid after they distribute the money. I know it's based on # of games played and "shares" earned...but I'd be curious to see the actual amount.

"With KU, K State, and Wichita State, Kansas has three schools with great basketball tradition, which, for a state like Kansas is really neat".

Gee, thanks for that wonderful compliment to our fine state.

I'm afraid UNL either has or will immediately develop a penetrating guard who can finish at the rim. I also fear the Shox will have a bunch of jacked 3's fueled by frustration with the difficulty of playing against a grind it out defense.

I doubt UNL has scouted WSU as well as Valley teams did, but it doesn't take much detective work to figure out WSU's weak areas.

If the game works out the way I'm afraid it will, we should be keeping our coach. 0-2 in the NIT since getting to WSU doesn't get many premium BCS offers.
The future's so bright - I gotta wear shades.
We like to cut down nets and get sized for championship rings.

Exactly. Here is what WSU has to hope for. Either, the outside game opens up the inside game or vice versa. NU will focus on stopping us down low to take away the higher percentage shot. This will force our guys to take the lower percentage perimeter. If we are making the outside shots tonight, we win.

If status quo takes over, then their defense will frustrate our players and we take horrible hurried shots and we lose yet again. There is hope however, NU has only won 4 road/neural court games in the past two years. But we can't win at home so maybe that's a wash.

Can the baseball and basketball Shox make 'Hump Day' a terrific one please?

                        • Well .. if we have to jack up 3s ... GIVE IT TO BEN!

I might defy the Laws of the Universe this one time and use my mental telepathy and telekinesis to take over the game if it's not going so well down the stretch.

I hate to use those awesome powers for such a trivial reason as a college basketball game, but I am getting desperate here.

                          I WANT TO WIN!!! WWWWWAAAAAHHHHH!!!!

Anyhow, this game could get ugly if it's just a defense fest. But I'll be loud and proud!

                          • If Murry, Hatch, and Ellis start and play significant minutes, we lose. If the aforementioned players come off the bench to give the starters a quick blow, we win. Go Shocks!!

                            • If Bill and Ted bring back Freshman Murry for last minute heroics we come out on top. Otherwise I watch with trepidation.

                              See you guys at MSG.
