Strange. One of your better teams and you decide to ditch the program.

I suspect there are a lot of reforms that could occur in college sports that could preserve existing programs and avoid having schools like WSU from dropping football.

They are also dropping Mens Rugby. Probably not a high revenue producing program, but they have won 25 of the 31 NCAA championships since 1980.

The reason for title ix is because the institutions wouldn't do what is right in the first place. Of course any time u let government get involved then it takes a life of it own.

The intent of title ix was never to limit educational opportunity but increase. Law of unintended consequences.

I agree with the intentions of Title 9.

It would be an excellent regulation in my opinion if they had left football out of the equation. There is no equivalent sport in terms of numbers to run a program on the womens side. Therefore the unintended consequences.

Maybe unintented but they shouldn't have been unforseen.

Short version: College baseball is dying ... but Eck Stadium is sweet.

In each of its financial crises over the last 25 years, the UA's athletic council establishes a hypothetical doomsday scenario. It asks: If we absolutely have to eliminate a sport,
“The rebellion on the populist right against the results of the 2020 election was partly a cynical, knowing effort by political operators and their hype men in the media to steal an election or at least get rich trying. But it was also the tragic consequence of the informational malnourishment so badly afflicting the nation. ... Americans gorge themselves daily on empty informational calories, indulging their sugar fixes of self-affirming half-truths and even outright lies.'
