  • Terry vs Shane

I was among the many who really enjoyed Terry Elliott as Mike's sidekick. He always brought humor, brilliant insight and his own Shocker experiences to the table. I will go on record as saying I was alarmed when I found out Terry would not be returning.

THAT SAID, however, I'd like sing Shane's praises. He's been doing this for only a few short years, and a few of those were only on a parttime basis while waiting for Kennedy to return to baseball season. I have watched (listened) to him grow and improve at a very quick and steady pace. The Shane Dennis of old was a little stiff and tried not to overspeak. The Shane Dennis of now is explicit, bold, very very funny at times, and has brought incredible insight of his own to the table. He doesn't back down from speaking his mind (which is great for a color man) even though he works in the office.

When he did games solo this season, it was hard to tell he was alone because he kept it going so very well. He can pull the trigger with the best of 'em and I'd like to tip my cap to you Shane - you are doing a REMARKABLE job!!

Thank you from a Shocker radio fan.

I agree. Really liked Terry. Also really like Shane.

Not sure what Shane's ultimate goals are. Is he the heir apparent to Mike Kennedy. OTOH, Mike could go for a long time yet.

Shane seems to really understand the game. Is coaching in his future?

Good question, at least as a pitching coach? I've learned a lot just from listening to his radio gig!

I really miss Terry's work but I like Shane as well. Gives me a bad feeling about whoever got rid of Terry though.

Agreed, Shane does an excellent job. I appreciate that he tends not to sugarcoat anything.

Shane has done an awesome job. I didn't care for Terry, I felt like all he did was repeat what Mike said and just change a word or two. I think Shane has the ability to explain things that all level of listeners can understand and enjoy. An excellent move to the future.

I like both and they both are great guys. This was a WIN WIN situation.

Now Kennedy on the other hand------------

I like and miss Terry, but you couldn't have asked for a better replacement.

I agree with you totally on that statement.

Grimes reached base in mid game and Shane said ''do I have to go down there and give the steal sign myself''.I am now a Shane fan for sure.Exactly what I was thinking at that point.

The problem with that statement is that they (SD and BK) are both the coolest guy in the room. No doubt about it.

For the record, I like SD very much. I think he brings a much more deeper perspective and has shown is qualified to do the complete broadcast himself.
