Anyway, for a program that is paying their coaches over $500K combined per year, just how long do they expect fans to fill the seats when they put a product like that on the field two straight years?

This program heavily relies on the walk-up crowd come baseball season and like any other sport, winning fills the seats. I'm beginning to worry that Wichitans who are casual baseball fans and are dealing with this difficult economic climate are not going to want to spend their money to watch a bunch Keystone Cop performances on the field.

With that said, Gene and crew have earned the right to get paid what they are and I have no problem they stick around for another 10 years, but something is going to give. We are the third best team in the state now but have the nicest facilities and best fans. This just isn't right.

My only hope now is that this team squeaks into the NCAA Tournament by winning the conference tourney and then winning the CWS. Just in the same manner Fresno State did a few years back. It was a million to one chance but they did it, can't we?

Why are you on a baseball board when the sport is meaningless to you? This has been said ad nauseum by you in the past. But I guess now since Kitten State had decided to start winning at such an "intramural" sport, only now that you begin to show interest. And by no surprise when KSU now beats a program that still is ahead of it, it is a big deal for you. Your hypocrisy works in mysterious ways.

Your winning football program is an afterthought. That is for sure. You are right about the Big XII Texas schools helping you. They are the only reason your conference is relevant in the sport. And it is by sheer lucky chance that you were able to dwell in the Big 12 and ride on the coattails of other more powerful institutions.

Agreed. Right now the school has invested about as much as a Sun Belt school, but is still benefiting from being in a conference that pulls them up. Right now, it's merely a stepping school in baseball and Hill would jump at an instant for the right price.

K-state finally has one regional appearance to put up on their outfield wall. It almost looks embarrasing to see that one lonely regional appearance hanging on the fence (2009).

K-state only needs to make 27 more regional appearances, 7 CWS appearances, playing in the national championship game 4 times and winning one national title in baseball (or ANY NCAA sport) to catch up with us.

There is some truth to his/her comments. A rising tide raises all ships, and no doubt the Big XII and Texas schools have helped K-State recruit better players. Unfortunately, for the MoVal, it is WSU that is the tide helping other programs, but no one assisting WSU.

Brad Hill received a nice extension and raise after last season. He's a native Kansan and loves it in Manhattan. Not saying he won't leave some day but I would be very surprised if he he left very soon.

Does K-State's 1-year-in-a-row streak of NCAA Regional appearances mean they are ahead of WSU?
Does KSU still count conference tournament games as "post-season appearances"?

Does hosting Regionals, winning Regional games or participating in Super Regionals count for anything when judging the status of a program?

what was the unofficial name of the big 8 until the big 12 was formed? and how long did the mighty k-state tradition in football last? on the verge of maybe developing lasting power they hire the manatee. and grandma isnt young enough to bring them back. but this isnt a football board it is baseball. the 4 game winning streak by k-state isnt much to talk about since they only come in one game at a time series and you can save your best pitcher or pitchers to throw.

1)You weren't in danger of anything except being lectured for not spending the money that OU and NU were funneling your way every season. Every conference needs its whipping boy. KSU has filled that role nicely over most of the last 100 or so years.

2)I hope you remember and enjoyed that 16-10 going away present we gave you at Hole in the Dirt Memorial Stadium....No senior redshirts to save you that time.

3)I don't have it in front of me, but if it's 8 out of 11....it's still about 40 out of 55 our way.
