    Pen

Unforrtunately, we've seen this before from Sossamon -- where he shuts things down upon coming into a jam, then completely blows up when he starts his own next inning from scratch.

No excuses based on Hall's error, either: the next four guys walked on a full count (their best hitter, whose homer got the FGCU offense started earlier in the game) and then singled, doubled, and singled on either the first or second pitch -- a disaster stretch that would have produced four runs anyway. When they jump on you like that, errors are pretty insignificant in the big picture.

I would put Jones in the dugout, we have plenty of outfielders. He has done nothing but get worse the longer he is here.
Let's hope he can hit a D-1 Curve ball!

        :good: Thank you.

Chris Sale is the real deal.I looked at the radar on the scoreboard and seen 98 twice.I don't think we will see another pitcher like him this year.At least I hope we don't! :wsu_posters:

You don't bench guys for one bad game but you do sub for them when you have as many candidates as we have to see what guys like Micah Green can do in the game.

              One bad game?

              What planet are you from?

Are you watching the same guy that I am?

His trendline is down, he has gotten worse the longer that he is here, sit him on the bench and let more productive players on the field.

Yeah, Jones has been struggling for 2 year now and has been a disappointment.

                2008: 0.326, 2 HR, 43 RBI, 16 SB
                2009: 0.277, 7 HR, 36 RBI, 14 SB
                2010: 0.185, 1 HR, 8 RBI, 0 SB

I really expected him to have a great Senior season and hopefully today performance (1 for 2, HR 3 RBI) will get him going.

Settle down Shirls, I am from planet earth and I have been the one saying I don't want to watch last years starters drag us down again with blind faith.

                    Caster?

I haven't really had much chance to listen -- and none to go out to the park -- so it's possible this has been addressed and I've just missed it, but given the obvious rustiness of Hoch, the continuing rehab of Fleming, and the debacle on Friday with Sossamon, is there any chance Mitch Caster might be given a shot at a late-inning role?

Caster really isn't needed as an outfielder, and he reportedly throws harder than anyone else on the team. Maybe a candidate for one of those closer-out-of-nowhere roles that we've seen filled in recent years by Danny Jackson and Damon Sublett?

I think the concern with Caster is still his wildness. I expect he will get some chances and he needs to prove himself. He indeed has great stuff, he just needs to harness it a bit.

Speaking of Danny Jackson, remember how he was all ready to go in the 'pen against Arkansas in 9th inning of the '04 regional championship game when Gene let Joe Muich talk him into staying with Kyle Banick?

Sorry to bring in up, but I'll never forget the pain of that moment.

I remember, Shirley and I were sitting there and when Gene went to the mound we told the hog fans around us he was done...then Gene walks back to the dugout and the rest was history. Yes, I remember it well.

Extremely painful moment. I was there too.

It wasn't like Bannick was a stud either. Probably one of the worst blunders in the Stephenson era.

Yes, it's too bad, Ashockalypse -- Gene might have been willing to bring in that Danny Jackson. Unfortunately, the one he had was inexperienced enough to allow him to talk himself out of a trip to the super regionals, and probably Omaha after that.

Give me inexperienced talent over veteran mediocrity any day.
