  • it doesnt exactly tickle sliding on but it softer than the hard dirt. Maybe a rubber burn or some black pellets in your wounds though now instead of dirt:)

    • Are they still working on the building? I've not seen a lot of progress.

        • While some of you may get in there before others,

I registered my son for Gene's camp on 12/28. I can only attend half but really look forward to checking out the facility.

            • Does anyone know or have pics of what Phase II looks like. Sounds like it might be a while before we get there but I am curious as to what is planned. Just seeing these photos gets me pumped for Feb.

My son was there yesterday for a 1-day camp. 1st impressions...the facility is amazing. They are still working on it, there are bits and pieces laying around, probably just the final touches. It has to be impressive for any potential recruit to walk in there, see the banners hanging of all the Shocker All-Americans, CWS pics, etc. It's pretty cool to go out the side doors, and enter right into Eck...everything just looks brand new and shiny!! It's a great facility, and they are very lucky to have it.
On a side note, as we were leaving last night, the team was gathering for practice (it looked just like pitchers) and in walks Mike Pelfrey. My kids eyes just lit up, and he ran over to him and asked him to sign his hat. Mike was awesome, talked to him for a couple minutes about camp, and gave him a handshake. It absolutely made my kids year! GO SHOX!

                • WOW... very cool! Thanks for facilities report and for telling us about Pelfrey. Always nice to hear a good story.

                  • I, too, am ready for February to see how the facility pays off in terms of readiness. The team should feel much more prepared, I would assume, and that confidence should show from the get go. Which is a good thing since we travel to Lawrence for game numero uno...

My son was at the same camp. And the facility is the real deal. Very VERY impressive.

                        • Looks amazing in the photos on facebook. It has to be quite a sight for recruits and players to see. Imagine adding your name on the Shockers in the MLB and your team to the list of CWS appearances.

Can not wait to see Eck after phase two :wsu_posters:.

                          • This may have been covered, but how many programs across the nation have an indoor facility specifically designed for baseball?

                              • It going to be interesting to see what type of dividends the new practice facility will pay. It definitely came at the right time it seems for this winter.
