WSU tells me that they have started fund raising for Phase 2 now & they have money left over from Phase 2. I've never heard thqt a new scoreboard is part of Phase 2 - only that the left hand stands will be expanded and the home field dugout moved to the left field side & expanded. I'm sure we'll hear more about it in the near future.
I haven't been out there to see the field in person since before they got the logos and new (and apparently temporary) infield turf in, but it's certainly starting to look sharp in the cam and photos.
I'm curious exactly what infield turf changes Paul S. was alluding to in his Shockwaves blog? Something to the effect that the re-shipped, temporary infield turf will be replaced before the start of the season with "contrasting" turf as compared to the "infield border". Not sure what that means exactly, 'cause what I'm picturing in my head doesn't really sound like anything I've seen before.
Also good to hear that Phase 2 is gaining momentum. I don't think the seating addition will be anything too spectacular in appearance, but the new clubhouse tying the existing, circa 1999 grandstands with the new practice facility sure will add more visual balance to the facility overall- something we've always lacked (and probably always will, just by the nature of the Eck's development).
I agree with Doc. The last scoreboard improvement wasn't sufficient. We need a huge Jumbotron in left Center or even dead center. That would literally clinch it for us. I believe a lot of recruiting would fall into place.
Those digital billboards, like at Central and Rock, are supposedly capable of showing video, its just legalities that prevent that since they are being displayed to already distracted drivers.
So get one of the billboard companies to design something that can be faced into the stadium for games, then can rotate to face either east or west the rest of the time and run ads to make $$$. Those billboards aren't full fledged HD boards, but the one over here near my house that is at Kellogg and Webb is pretty clear. Just a thought, don't know if its really feasible.

What are they going to do with the old turf?I see it rolled up behing the CF wall.
Make hundreds of framed, mini Tyler Fields to sell for $100 a pop.
Just a wild guess...
We wouldn't exactly be the first AD to do that with old turf from a well-known facility.
I'd like to buy one, so here's hoping they do just that.
Actually I have some shocker turf from the last time they sold it (I think in '99)
Did they do anything interesting with it?
They gave different options for buying different sizes of the turf. IIRC there were two size. One was about 1 ft square and the was just big enough to put in a cube that holds a baseball.
The 1ft square one would hang up on the wall and had plaque with it that saying "winningest turf in college baseball...."

Also ... I'd love to see that scoreboard held up by a pair of massive, stylized WuShocks, a la the Argonath in LOTR.
“The rebellion on the populist right against the results of the 2020 election was partly a cynical, knowing effort by political operators and their hype men in the media to steal an election or at least get rich trying. But it was also the tragic consequence of the informational malnourishment so badly afflicting the nation. ... Americans gorge themselves daily on empty informational calories, indulging their sugar fixes of self-affirming half-truths and even outright lies.'”
The outfield fence is starting to come back up today. The field really does look awesome.
As to the scoreboard, I agree that it is already starting to show its age. Get a new state-of-the-art one in place, and I don't think this stadium can be made any better...
... well unless it went all-grass..
Deuces Valley.
... No really, deuces.
